Mr Breeze, I wish I could give you a hundred thumbs up. Great post about a dog you obviously loved and loved you back.

I owned two. A Grasshopper diesel and an Xmark. I liked them both. The Grasshopper was a beast. I put about a 1000 hours on it. No issues other than routine maintenance and one time the flywheel gear ring came loose. I misdiagnosed it as a starter issue. The shop discovered the loose ring, heated it and reinstalled it.
The Xmark was smaller and much more comfortable. I only put a 100 hours on it before I sold the place.
Given the two, I would go Xmark. Much cheaper and I didn’t need the commercial grade of the Grasshopper.

Gulf Coast Fans. The company sells a model with an extended warranty. I have four fans installed on porches which are 50-75 feet from the salt water. So far they have been problem free.
re: Updating landscaping - Design

BIll Parker? nailed it. Get professional help, or educate yourself, upfront. Let muscle do the heavy work and closely monitor plant placement and irrigation, if you go that route. I love landscaping and the satisfaction of seeing the right plants grow and flourish in the right environment, but I still make the occasional mistake despite 40 plus years of study, planning and planting.

Hard to argue with the recommendation of Thermador appliances. Bosch and Thermador are owned by the same company. The Bosch Benchmark line competes with Thermador. The Bosch 800 series offers pretty good value at a lower price point than the Benchmark series.

I’ve run Grasshopper and ExMark commercial grade mowers. Both were trouble free. I particularly liked the Grasshopper.

I own Minka and Monte Carlo fans for indoor settings. Great fans, I have several Gulf Coast Fans for exterior settings. The install is straight forward, and the company offers a line of fans with a pretty nice warranty.

Based on the recommendations of board members in prior threads, I bought a Speed Queen set. So far I am very happy.

When I had a paspalum yard I used a Tru-Cut. Great mower. Really heavy duty.

I’ve owned a Grasshopper 725D, which is a mid deck mower, for 12 years. It is an absolute beast. I’d go with a diesel over gas, and I also recommend the twills over regular tires.

Throw in Boston, Aerosmith’s Toys and Fogelberg’s Souvenirs for the sex and we are brothers from another mother.

It’s hard living. I leave my place to head south in early November. The neighbors recorded multiple -10 degree nights this winter. My blood is too thin for that kind of weather.

I’ve had no issues with my Traeger. It’s been great. I’m a green egg guy, and the Traeger has been a great addition.

“Unleash the Kraken” doesn’t do Monteg justice. A Monteg post NC rant drive by would likely result in the entire GA board being banned.

I bought a Traeger 650. I’m not a serious grillmeister. The Traeger has served me well. The ease of use has allowed me to branch out and experiment in ways I never did with the green egg or a gas grill. The temperature consistency makes for no worry cooking. Cleaning the Traeger is a snap.

I was on the Jeff last Fall in MT. I watched one dive bomb a flock of mergies several times trying to get one to fly. It was pretty cool. Eventually the eagle gave up.
I see bald eagles almost every day on my place. Now if you want to see a bird, go find a full grown golden eagle.

re: Taking Care of Boat in Salt Water

Salt Away is your friend. I use Woody Wax on the sole. It does a good job cutting down on fish guts and blood sticking to the non-skid. Get a good UV product for your cushions,
And, have some rules — 1) no Cheetos on the boat (that orange crap is a bitch to get off non-skid); 2) you ride in the boat, you help wash the boat.
