re: Remember Trail Timers? - runningdog
Cameras everywhere worry me, including in the woods. I scan the area before taking a leak
True! I was at a remote ramp on a river in Montana. I go to the bushes to take a leak and look up into a game camera. The ramp was in a brushy State section so I suppose it was placed there b...

re: I'm watching a live stream of Snow in Jackson Hole, Wy. Is global warming over. - runningdog
I live half the year in SW MT. Snowed on me this afternoon as I was doing chores. For 10 minutes it was like a whiteout. On Saturday it hit the high 80’s. I ran this morning in shorts and a short sleeve shirt. ...

re: Any have success using blue dye mixed with herbicide? - runningdog
It works, and you can always mix it stronger/darker.
This. I use the dye when I spray thistle. I pour the blue dye in the same measuring cup with the chemical, I also rinse the measuring cup with water I’m adding to the spray container. Both of these tricks cut down on the mess....

re: OB thoughts on hunting near neighbors dove field - runningdog
So, some guy, who leases land near land you own, presumes to tell you how to manage your land? Now, I get why he wouldn’t be happy, but the better approach would have been for him to make an effort to coordinate shoots....

re: Offshore sat phone - runningdog
I fish offshore in SWFL. Besides a VHF, I have a PLB, an EPIRB and a sat phone. I’ll check on the provider, but I believe it is Satmodo. I’ve used the phone while 30-40 miles offshore several times to check in with my family. No problems....

re: New 200 HP Suzuki or Yamaha? - runningdog
Can’t speak to dealers, but the Zukes are a solid choice for a repower. In SWFL a lot of the offshore guides are running Zukes. As for the Yamaha 200, I owned one and had no issues with the engine. It was quiet, sipped gas and trouble free. What more can you want?...

re: Snapper Hi Vac Self propel - runningdog
The bane of my existence as a young commercial mower many, many years ago was a snapper 7 hp (as I recall) push mower. It was an absolute beast. I dreamed of being assigned one of the little two stroke lawn-boys in the fleet. It was one tough mower, but boy when the bag got halfway full it was a bit...

re: Big Sky, Montana fishing recommendations - runningdog
Hebgen in August can be hit or miss depending on the wind. Are you staying in Big Sky? Wading the Gallatin in the Park is a nice way to spend the afternoon. Your gal will love the scenery and the fish are cooperative. I prefer to wade fish, but I own a drift boat so I do both in my area of Montana. ...

re: If you had to choose between Idaho, Wyoming, or Montana - runningdog
The simple version is you have the right to fish (Wade or float) a navigable stream as long as you stay below the high water line. You must access the water from public property, such as a bridge, park, state or federal land. There are, of course, some exceptions and there have been many legal battl...

re: If you had to choose between Idaho, Wyoming, or Montana - runningdog
I moved to Montana to avoid urban life. I live 30 miles from the nearest full size grocery and hospital. I am retired so, immediacy is not of primary concern. There are small towns with services much closer. If you want a somewhat urban environment and don’t mind a very conservative, dominant rel...

re: Will you still support the Dawgs when they go political? - runningdog
At six pages, a whole bunch of finger pointing, arguments and veiled accusations, I stand by what I wrote earlier. Once GA football becomes overtly politicized it likely will cease to be fun for me and I suspect many others. Love for GA ball is something positive I can share with folks of all wal...

re: Will you still support the Dawgs when they go political? - runningdog
I don’t know. I was a fairly avid falcons fan. When all the crap started, I quit following them, pro ball and ESPN. You couldn’t pay me to watch pro basketball. I watch sports to be entertained, not lectured to by rich athletes or talking heads on a sports channel....
