Nike's attempt to go sub 2 hour marathon will be happening in Italy tomorrow night. It will start at midnight our time. Three of the worlds best runners will try it. Can or will it will be done?

How is "Nike" attempting it? Did they bring the OG Nike back to life?

Don't think it can be done...yet.
I'm sure some runner will come around with some genetic advantage and dominate marathons and break 2 hrs one day.
ETA:
I wonder how much science they incorporated into this. Like weather forecast, time of day, temperature, drafting behind a vehicle, etc.

I don't think theyre going to get it, but I don't think getting it is the real goal here. Its a publicity stunt and it's working for sure.

That's a 4.6 min/per mile pace. I don't think it can be done

2:02:57 is the current record according to Google for those who had no idea such as myself.

This is the OT. I did it last weekend.

Yeah, I don't really get it. Isn't every world class runner basically "trying" this every time they run a marathon? What are these guys going to do different?

Current World Record is 2 hours, 2 minutes and 57 seconds..
Doesn't seem improbable.

All of this was considered. Pacers are even running in a certain formation for drafting purposes.

Run faster, I'd guess.

Theyre going to have pacers and things set up through the run that normal "racing" conditions dont really offer. They're all working together, not racing each other.

Pacers
That will help. I think it happens.

Okay, I guess this sort of answers my question. Would this make it 'legit' as far as being a record, though?

Stuff like this is happening:

Pretty sure they're making this as "scientifically aided" as possible while still staying within the guidelines to make it an official world record.
