After all the worship of “front line workers” earlier in this thing, I’ve been seeing some very bad decisions made by people I know in the medical field the last few weeks involving group functions, interactions, etc. You would think they would know better, but maybe they think they know everything.

So you know someone instituted some policy but you don't understand what the policy was or why it was abandoned but that's good enough for you to roundly reject any similar policies?

it's not just "people who infect others" also. it's intentionally or negligently infecting others, which is already a crime for some other viruses

I doubt it'll lead to much in the way of civil suits because its going to be impossible to prove that the plaintiff got infected at a certain event by one particular person when it takes up to 2 weeks for symptoms to show up and the plaintiff could have been exposed at a number of other places and by countless other people in that time span.

This is not some HIV positive person raping someone. This is asymptomatic people who have received a positive test, that even the CDC says is very inaccurate and may be wrong.
I'm not saying people that go in public that have received a positive test don't deserve to be chastised, but criminal prosecution is a bridge too far for me.

i used GOP states as an example of a policy 180, from an open economy to a closed economy, directly in response to your "economy" comments. i asked you why they did it. you honestly didn't answer but are using the exercise in a much more dramatic/wide argument now as a "gotcha"
but yes, effectively every government on earth is taking this seriously and almost every one has imposed restrictions on populations. the implication is, that this isn't some hoax and there is a very real threat from this disease. and they're basing that off of...deaths (and the potential for more).

i keep seeing that policy posted but i imagine it's just not possible in the real world. it's also going to take a HUGE chunk of the US population. 40% of Americans are obese, for example.
