Haven't read this whole thread, but Germany, for instance, has always required N95 masks indoors since this started, because they know all of the other masks are totally worthless.

Masking is a religion (sort of like these anti-vaccine nuts). So this won't matter.

Again, I have no doubt that mask mandates are MOSTLY worthless and I am adamantly opposed to them.
But n95 masks are probably at least somewhat effective against aerosols when current masks are totally worthless. If you're going to do a mandate, at last do one that has at least somewhat of a chance of having an effect, not the one in place now.
But again, I wouldn't support any mandate (and your graph is well taken).

Ronaldo, do you have a cases graph and/or hospitalization graph for Germany and Sweden during that time period?

good post FunBunch.
At some point we have to come to realization as a society that masks (not N95’s) are nothing more than virtue signaling. And enforcing them on children is is a form of child abuse. We’ve fricked the education system enough the last 2 years, to force young children to pointlessly wear a mask does nothing but inhibit their ability to learn to communicate.

ICU admissions over that same time frame:

Honestly, its more than just virtue signaling.
Its a way for government to show their control and that they are "doing something".
You can't illustrate you are "doing something" with social distancing or hand washing or vaccines.
Everyone can SEE the masks on though and then they say "Oh look what the government is doing for us."
That's the whole purpose of mask mandates.

The other part is the shifting of blame. By nature, people will blame the government for everything that happens, regardless of whether the government has any control. The government has little control over gas prices nor the spread of COVID, but people blame Biden and Trump for them.
Mask mandates shifts this misguided blame off the government onto your fellow citizens. COVID is as contagious as the common cold, imagine shaming everyone that got the common cold?

10 percent of a trillion dollars is a 100 billion dollars.
Using your analogy, this means there are still 900 billion “dollars” floating around the air ready to infect you.
What’s a 10% reduction mean when it comes to infections? How much free floating virus does it take to make a case?
By how much does it reduce reproductive rate?
Study still shows that masks are worthless, unless those questions are answered by future work.

It's all pointless. At the end of the day if you catch covid you are most likely going to bring it home and spread to the family. So let's just move on and live our lives.

So you find 1 study that supports your beliefs and cling to it like stink on shite but ignore the vast majority of studies that show masks are effective.
One of Biden's own advisors on his Covid task force has been speaking out on ineffectiveness of anything but a N95 mask for over a year and was on CNN speaking about it just a few weeks ago. Dr Olsterholm isnt some political hack. Face it...most of the masks people are wearing only provide a minimal amount of protection in short duration encounters (checking out at a grocery store, quick office interactions, etc)

I don’t give a shite about cases, I was just really curious if the cases or hospitalizations tracked just like deaths did.

Link them because everything I’ve seen is between 3-10%

And yet the people trying to make kids wear masks in school point to the AAP statements, which are about cloth masks, trying to dispel concerns about breathing and other things. Just more double talk.

That pisses me off more than anything. Especially when our govenor keeps warning about the dangers of the Delta variant to kids and thats why they have to stay masked all day at school. Either the variant is a serious danger to kids or its not. If it is then schools need to be all virtual. If not then the kids should be unmasked because relying on them to keep our kids safe is bullshite.

And again...what does a reduction of aerosols by 3-10% actually mean when it comes to spreading infections?
