Please stop posting stuff like this because the dumbass politicians will see it and mandate the use of N95s at all times.

Very good. 10 percent of a dime in a penny.

What has that got to do with the topic, or are you just throwing out random shite?

.most of the masks people are wearing only provide a minimal amount of protection in short duration encounters (checking out at a grocery store, quick office interactions, etc)

Exactly. I wear a mask every day while I see patients, and ask them to wear one too since we're having a pretty close interaction. But the notion that masks protect people who attend large events in enclosed spaces has always seemed ridiculous. You still have to breathe in the air that's being circulated around the room.

Can you please get control of your profession so we can respect it again (not you, you seem reasonable)? The (spin) doctors are completely ruining a once respected title.

The only place it makes any kind of sense imo is if two people will be in very close proximity for an extended period of time. Things like getting a haircut, or getting therapy, or on at a Dr. visit.

Its a way for government to show their control and that they are "doing something". You can't illustrate you are "doing something" with social distancing or hand washing or vaccines. Everyone can SEE the masks on though and then they say "Oh look what the government is doing for us." That's the whole purpose of mask mandates.

This!!!

As per the Germany vs. Sweeden graphs in this thread, nothing illustrates the futility of masks more and I think I read Germany mandates the n95? Though I may have that wrong but either way irrelevant. You can mandate all you want but again, the real world is not a controlled environment or an operating room where proper wearing practices and proper cleaning etc are strictly adhered to, in fact it's nothing of the sort and never will be anywhere close to that.

And it's so obvious and so simple I think even most of the maskers really know deep down the truth.

But too many folks have put themselves out there to turn back without egg on their face and as you say it's a way to give the illusion that Big Brother is doing something tangible to help.

And again...what does a reduction of aerosols by 3-10% actually mean when it comes to spreading infections?

I’d argue nothing to very little.

A little fame and ego stroking can do a lot to people. Even smart doctors.

Like classrooms? I would favor sending my kids to school in masks if I honestly thought it would do ANY good. But I really don't think it does.

Yet the people pushing mask mandates are also pushing Vax mandates.

Anyone who trusts the "experts" at this point is an idiot.
