I'd like for you to show your work on this claim.
Well, you said doing the same thing without a mask vs with one. The mask holds all that saliva that isn’t out in the air. It’s now all over your face and chin. Touching it 25 times and then touching other objects is the same, if not worse, than touching your face without it.

Look, the problem here is human behavior. This study even claims that when the masks DO work, it’s in short stints and typically by people who are sick and cough more because they’re truly limiting those coughs and the short stint is key because it’s less time for them to touch themselves and then other things. Every other situation (in this study), the public is more likely to use them incorrectly. You are familiar with the hospital setting. Masks and gloves get thrown after every use for a reason. And by people who know how to use them. Now imagine someone like Peej wearing the same one on 3 different trips out in public on the same day.

I notice you didn’t quote the surgeon general part of my post who has made the exact same arguments.

It is established that asymptomatic people carry and infect people right?

This kind of kills this entire study.
How so?

Ok, but if it's all inside and you touch it when you're at home or in your car, it hasn't been getting spread everywhere you've been. But I meant back it up with some actual data instead of your fantasy world.

Even used inxorrecrly, a mask is better than no mask. That should be common sense to just about anyoje. But some of y'all.never cease to amaze me.

insane that some people want to reopen when we are still learning about this virus and have no cure

There will never be a cure. You get it and move on. All vaccines do is give you the virus. It doesn't cure it.

Uh. It’s the point the study is making. It’s the point the surgeon general has made. Me adding hypothetical numbers to it doesn’t make it a “fantasy world.”

First, are you seizing? Second, there’s a study in the OP that backs up my points. Third, why do I have to provide data but you get to rely on “common sense”?

Come on, LNCH. You’re slacking.

I have a better one.

Take your family, and attempt to feed them with a job.

Now attempt to feed them without a job because the government won't allow you to work over a virus that has a mortality rate of less than 1%, and in the case of some places, 0.005% or less.

Have a great day.

literally nothing you said here has anything to do with what i posted or even the entire subject of the OP on whether masks do any good. but you do you there skipper hope you writing it made you feel better about life or something

But, hey - the “experts” have been wrong on pretty much everything having to do with this virus so maybe the OT Mask Patrol is right.

I’ve seen and heard people complain about seeing people without masks out walking, jogging, driving, etc. Most people have a good laugh at the absurdity of those complaints. Well, some of us feel the same way at folks who wear a mask in a grocery store. I’m pretty sure I could convince gullible mask wearers that an eclipse was really caused by an angry god. Have some dignity and take that stupid thing off.

I’ve worn a mask twice during this debacle and both instances it was because a private business required it. No problem with that at all.

Outside of a clinical setting, with novice users, cloth masks are not very effective.

Meanwhile since Austria required the entire country to wear masks they have gone from an infection rate of 90 per 100k to 10 per 100k.

That downward trend started well before the April 6 mandate that everyone wear a mask.

As has been pointed out in this thread, what OP linked isn't a study. Good try though.

And you need to be the one to prove it because you're the one making the claim that wearing a mask is somehow worse than not

That is actually supportable. To wear gloves properly, you'd have to walk around with a wheelbarrow full.

Yes. Proper handwashing and paying attention to what you're doing is more effective outside of clinical scenarios.

fricking hilarious that you losers will downvote simple truths like this.

You just made your own claim that wearing a mask, even doing so incorrectly, is more beneficial than not. Prove it.

You can just say there is nothing to support your claim. It's okay.

Oh. I’m sorry. The commentary by the scientists in the OP. And the surgeon general.

I wouldn’t call what scientists say and the surgeon general’s arguments “nothing.”

I would call “common sense” nothing though. Since that’s all you are relying upon.

As long as you admit that your "facts" about mask use and its effectiveness is nothing more than your opinion, go ahead.
