The title to the page you linked is...

COMMENTARY: Masks-for-all for COVID-19 not based on sound data

Commentary on other studies doesn't equate a Study.

The fact they're nothing but an emotional safety blanky doesn't mean I have an issue with him or anyone else wearing one.

I've said multiple times in multiple threads I have no issue with people wearing them. The issue is when they decide that I should be forced to wear one.

And besides, a dickhead reply is going to get a dickhead reply in return.

They work for people who know how to use them. They don’t work for a vast majority of the public and the cloth ones are a fricking joke. My issue is with them being an official government policy.

So if I cough or sneeze my saliva will go just as far with or without a mask? Got it.

Sometimes I think this is a valid picture of what you look like on the other end, 100% of the time:

Are you ever in a decent mood where you're not fighting with somebody on here?

No. but it will go on the mask. Which you will touch 25 times when you shouldn’t. And then touch 15 things other people will touch right after you. Well done.

I agree. If I don’t want to wear a mask I simply won’t. Nobody is gonna FORCE me to wear a mask... not gonna happen.

Anyone that says mask will not help with the spreading of disease is overlooking basic common sense and physics. The mask will not stop 100% of virus that you are exhaling, but it will stop a lot of it. So the idea is if you are exhaling the majority is going into masks, that means much less is going 6ft away from you on surfaces. The virus has a certain amount of time on surfaces to survive in various conditions. Just the reduction of the amount of virus on surfaces in general will reduce your chances of getting sick. Less virus on surfaces, less chance to get sick. Added to that proper hand washing techniques and hand sanitizer, then you have pretty effective mitigation to open back up and send people to work.

And some of it will still go through/around the mask and be in the air.

But they’re not.

The very article linked in the OP that is trying to make a similar point even says that they’re likely effective as source control. That’s more than “emotional support”.

And sure, you can simultaneously think they’re stupid and not actually have an issue with people wearing them, but again, why voice that opinion when your primary desire (it appears) is to get things back on track?

People going to work with masks on is a hell of a lot better than people staying home without them isn’t it?

And I’m not saying that’s what the choice should be, but for all practical purposes, that seems like the choice we have.

So no mask and doing all that same stuff is better?

It would be the same. Which proves my point of the mask being irrelevant. Although it can be argued that the mask is worse because you’re more likely to touch your face more. Like what the surgeon general originally argued back in March.

I'd like for you to show your work on this claim.

Just because you say that doesn't make it so. You don't want to be bothered with it, so you've convinced yourself they don't do anything.

You can argue anything. Doesn't make it valid.

This

then you have pretty effective mitigation

Is not required for this
