SO if they use the word, white boy, cracker, honkie, or pinkie, and/or belong to a chapter of the Black Panthers, can they be thrown out of school? I am quite certain there is a double standard here.
Hate speech is protected by the first amendment as long as it doesn’t call for violence. “I don’t like [insert race]”is protected.

Meh!
About 20 years ago a bunch of "slow White Boy" Ukrainians started to take boxing seriously, and now they are over here wrecking shite left and right.
I mean, when was last time you heard the phrase "Great White Hope"?

What exactly is he (and presumably the black athletes who sit out) going to be asking for? "to take racism seriously" is just some nebulous platitude. Is there any evidence that LSU doesn't "take racism seriously?"
Contrary to his argument, "hate speech" (at least with example he cites) is not speech in violation of the 1st Amendment. It may be wrong. It may be something LSU doesn't want. But it is not criminal.
But still, his whole basis for protest seems to be centered around the words of ONE person. So if that person is refused admission does that mean the problem is solved? If not, then what "solution" is he looking for?
As far as I know, LSU doesn't prohibit black students from attending strictly on the basis of skin color. They don't prohibit black students from participating in athletics. In fact, one could argue that the % of black students participating in the major sports (football/basketball) is vastly disproportionate to the make up of the student body at large. I don't think there is a single written mandate/guideline/rule/policy that allows discrimination on the basis of race AGAINST black students.
If you have a problem/grievance, that's fine. But explain to me what you want done to "fix" it?

Who doesn't, and likely never will, attend LSU.
The whole outrage is that his admission was not rescinded immediately, on a Sunday afternoon, after an unverified twitter post from a person who has incorrectly identified supposed racists on multiple occasions.

War on racism = war on terror

Also the fricking nerve of this kid to try and get a bunch of social media attention by putting pressure on the players to jeopardize what they’ve been working for their whole lives, generational and life changing wealth and opportunity. So selfish.

For some reason there is this constant ideal that LSU is racist against black people. I've been around campus for almost 20 years now and have never encountered anything remotely racist or noninclusive that was governed by LSU. This does not pertain to Greek Functions as those are essentially private.

100% correct, but I have to believe that is going to be a massive talking point in the future.
The only racially divided thing I've ever personally witnessed was at football games from around 2000-2010, really until the band moved, there was "The Sit Down Section". This was the area to the direct left of the tunnel in the lower bowl by the locker room. As the rest of the student body stood, this section comprised 99.9% of black students elected to sit the entire game. I never actually heard their reasoning for it, but i know it always irked people back then.

Does anyone even know if the kid was actually attending LSU.
Clemson announced today that the student in their racist video didn't, never did, and never planned on attending the school

So be it. You can't let people hold you hostage or extort you.

if this guy is actually admitted, he's still entitled due process via the code of conduct policy in order for LSU to rescind his admission.
And all that needs to be private.
Not that the masses will understand/appreciate that.

Now that athletes are allowed to be paid(ish) can they be fired?

After the season we just had, I could give a shite if they sit out or not. I'd prefer it if the University doesn't fold to this type of behavior. TWITTER MOBS ARE NOT REAL LIFE!

Well as detailed in the other thread on this, the tweet was right constitutionally speaking.
So the players should sit out until the Constitution changes? That seems reasonable
