College education should be affordable to begin with, or free, for those who qualify academically.
You mean others, many of which didn’t get to go to college and even some who wouldn’t qualify academically, should pay for a subset of people to go to college via even more taxes. Yeah, that’s gonna be a no for me.

I don’t understand did they not disclose the terms to you when you signed up?
That's not a good response because what is the alternative option? Just not go to school and work at Jimmy John's until 60? Nah

There is so many other options than going to college, many of which make more money with more chances for advancement. Going to college just because it is the 13th grade is a trend that needs to be stopped.

Happy to say I have no debt. Until I buy a house, which probably won’t happen until everything crashes

“It’s time to start paying back student loans”
Why do so many people expect free shite? People used to be horrifically embarrassed about stuff like this and this was like 20-30 years ago.

You boomers sure love to joke about student loans since y’all got to go to college back when it was 300 bucks
Don't forget about the houses they bought for 3x a minium wage salary and could pay for their 3 children's delivery for $90 cash

Another one that swallowed the "you have to go to college to be successful" lie.

Congratulations.

I love how the OT conservatives think every 17-18 year old kid should completely understand what they're doing when they sign up for student loans.
At its core, interest calculations are basic algebra. If you aren’t capable of understanding basic algebra then maybe college isn’t for you.
For those that load up on debt for graduate degrees. Do companies no longer contribute to educational expenses while working? Plenty of people worked full time and went to school at night.

should literally just say duck the federal government and not pay cuz I feel like I’ve already paid them back honestly
If you're ducking payments, you haven't paid them back.

whether or not i signed off for the first year then, and kept signing off each year- it doesnt matter.. the ball got rolling and everything was set up when i was 16.. People like you dont get to say something didnt happen just becuase it fits whatever agenda you are trying to push
Actually, that’s a pretty big detail to argue on. Signing on for a single, massive, all encompassing college loan or signing 4 separate smaller loans is quite a significant difference

They're kids, they're idiots. They've been lied to their entire lives and told how they'll never be anything without a college education. No one ever tells them the full picture. And even if they did, they're still kids. Our entire system is absolutely idiotic.
If we are sending kids to vote, drive cars, and kill/be killed by the enemy in war, perhaps the problem is us.

People also bought 2 bedroom houses and put 3 kids in one room in a 1100 sq ft cracker box. Nobody wants that now except illegals. But now they all have newer iPhones than I do and expect a whole hell of a lot, just like college students that want the lazy river and Wifi in every single square meter of campus, but wonder why college costs so much (after they're done, of course.)

There are other options than deciding to work minimum wage jobs the rest of your life.

Get a job in construction. Work 60 hours per week for 6 or 7 years, and you’ll have it all paid back. Plus you will know a craft and make a very nice living. But you don’t want to do that, do you?

Go be a cop or fireman. Join the military. Go get an apprenticeship. Just a few other options.

If someone would have told me how much I could make running a plumbing or HVAC company, I never would have bothered finishing my degree. Note, I don't mean being a plumber on a truck for life, I mean running your own trucks. $$$$.

So you in fact have NOT paid it back?
I think you ripped off the federal government, that money was supposed to buy you an education…
