I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for the quality information provided in this thread. It was pretty amazing to see everyone (for the most part) come together as a community and work together towards a common goal..
Thoughts and prayers to anyone impacted by Hurricane Ida, directly or indirectly. If you need help, ask for it. The community wants to help you get back on your feet.
Godspeed to a full recovery for all.

The Weather Channel just posted a new aerial video of Grand Isle from Severe Studios. I was able to snag a shot of the property we were looking at (on the left). I am truly surprised there was anything left.

Hopefully we actually get one to keep the door closed on the tropics.
While that’s good in theory Hurricanes Delta and Zeta made landfall in Louisiana in October last year.

Just to update you all. Cell service is still spotty in Houma.
Finally got pictures of Chez Tarps from Cut Off. Not good…windows blown out.
Oak tree on top.
I hate to see what the inside looks like.

I had no cell service in Houma yesterday, so it's very likely he isnt able to.

He wasn't in Houma. He evaced, but I can't remember where. His last posts were about him talking to his neighbors on the phone and them saying their house was taking damage. I think he posted once after that. That was right before shite in Houma started going sideways.

He may have gone back home to assess damage though. There were quite a few back in Houma yesterday.

This is a scary look at the Laplace storm surge:
@hurricanetrack
If you happen to find a big yellow box tied to a pole tangled in debris, I guess you can get in touch with them and let them know.

A very frightening look at the storm surge from hurricane #Ida as seen from our remote cam in Laplace at Frenier Landing.
Yes, it kept streaming live even after it broke loose. Nest cams and Verizon - wow!!!!! LINK

Nobody has heard from him yet. Someone is going to Golden Meadow and was going to stop in Cut off to check on him.

He has a place in Cypress Cove but he evacuated to Tx with us, but we have a family member that stayed and rode the storm out there. My dad has a whole home generator as well so that helps. He will be heading back home this weekend.

What’s kind of crazy is the storm was at 999mb last night and it’s somehow 996 mb as of now.

It isnt tropical anymore, and thus is feeding on spatial temperature differences like a mid-lat cyclone.
