I'll just hold a pet friendly hotel in both Beaumont and Jackson, and figure out on Saturday which one to keep and send them

Depends on how far north he goes and where he's at. You can still be in the general path of the storm.
yea for Lily, and Gustav I know a bunch of people who got stranded in NLA and N miss at hotels with no power because they went straight N

This forecast has changed a lot since yesterday. I'm in a bit of a bind here. I have to find somewhere to plant my grandmother but it can't be too far because it's difficult with her. She's on northshore but has oxygen. Obvious answer would probably be further west to texas but that's too far. Jackson is probably an hour or 2 at most ride? I think she could handle that.
why move her at all unless shes between Florida and the lake...tornados?
Pretty good chance we'll lose power, but thats gonna happen a few hours up if its what theyre forecasting.
If not storm surge threat, moving elderly in anticipation of a storm seems like more of a stressor than hunkering down. all the best

Don't think the mangrove swamps in west Cuba are going to mess this storm up
Laura passed over same area and didn't miss a beat

Just booked three rooms in Brandon, MS, now to figure out what to do with the dogs... as most vets are only open for a few hours on Sat morning and I was hoping to wait until Sat morning to make a go / no go decision.

NHC does appear to be pretty confident this will become a strong hurricane. I really wonder if it’ll go to a 4 or even a 5 at some point. Laura would’ve been a 5 if she had five more hours over water. That bitch strengthened right up to landfall. I think Delta and Zeta did too.
If it’s still vertically stacked and has hurricane strength when it gets in the gulf it will reach a 4. I think it would have to shoot the gap and be strengthening when it gets in the gulf to reach a 5

If it stays on this track I’m out of BR. I have a light rain storm and the lights flicker.

That's kinda the problem I'm having now. I want to head N to somewhere like Jackson but I'm not sure that's N enough and I'm not really familiar with the area. That's technically right directly in the path too right on the east side. Anything would be better than hanging around on the northshore though.

Serious question. I'm from NWLA and never dealt with contraflow, etc. I need to go to Laffy tomorrow evening and leave Saturday evening. Is there a good chance I-49 coming out of Laffy will be a shite show by then?

This could be bad. With all of the heavy rain we’ve been getting the ground is already wet. Add in more rain with high winds, and there will be a ton of uprooted trees.
