You don’t have to go east/west. Head north.

So many mistakes. Top to bottom. And I’m not one to criticize officials like this.

Jindal was garbage but he could get this state evacuated for a Cat 2 in no time. If I remember correctly, he did it for a nothingburger.

Boat that pic is either Hurricane Matthew or Irma I cant remember but my butt was puckered as that thing went up the coast. Never made landfall here but definitely took out our coast and most of our sandbars along the coast.

Leave right now. It’s not too late and all indications are that interstates are open enough for you to get to safety. No reason not to get to the East as fast as possible. Montgomery….Auburn….Columbus. Go NOW, type on tOT from the car.

Same. My fiancé, his family and our pets are in Slidell.

What area (if you don't mind sharing that info)?

My folks are in the back of Quail Ridge almost to The Settlement. Their house is on a high spot (14'), but they are reeeeaaaaallllly close to the swamp/river... and so many trees.

This day is going to exhaust me from worrying.

I’m in Napoleonville, my grandparents built a storm cellar shortly before Katrina that we stayed for Gustav in, should be okay in there for this too right? about 8 inch thick concrete block built into the ground. The aftermath is what it is, more worried about personal safety today.

No it’s not, throw some essential items in the car and drive.

Your power will be out, there will be flooding, bugs, heat, humidity.

Even if we're looking at a Cat 5, slowing down of storm and immense size? I get that we're on the West side, but sheesh.

Have grandma who’s house is right behind the flood wall in Morgan city. She didn’t leave, should I go get her I am in Lafayette.
.

I drove from Gulf Shores to Houma last night to get my hard headed Aunt. Rolled back into GS about 5am.

Go get her outta there is my advice.

This is what I’m talking about. A little glitch in the system until that rain band moves out of Slidell.

That's not a glitch. It isn't raining in Slidell at the moment.
