Anyone staying in Laplace be prepared for storm surge from the SW corner of the lake like the town got for Isaac. This is a similar track and a stronger storm. That surge from the lake into Laplace from Isaac surprised a lot of people.

Yeah I get that the lower pressure means stronger storm.. but is there any relevance to the 14kt winds? Meaning if it said, 100 kts would that be better or worse?
Means the pressure is lower
Wind measured means it isn't the true center or lowest pressure in the storm. Wind would read 0kt at that point.

this could be so devastating for it, that I don’t know if it’d be able to recover from something that might be coming.
Just to try to be a silver lining here and I know I’m sure people are tired of hearing about us in Lake Charles, but I think between the PTSD and just trying to share our experiences since it was just a year ago….
I understand that thought process. And it’s going to suck for a very long while. But people know how to pick up and help out when it’s needed. We had so much help from people from everywhere else after it all happened. The insurance companies will fight tooth and nail not to help out, but outside of those greedy fricks, so many people are going to pull together and it’s going to be ok. Lives will change, but take it day by day and eventually most people’s lives will hopefully line back out day by day.

Flooding could be an issue and the chance of unpredictable tornados and crazy winds is of course possible.
What is possibly keeping you from getting your car in the next 20 minutes and driving West?

Ah ok.. that makes sense. Thank you. The replies on that tweet make it sound like a Cat 5 is likely at this point.. but I guess that makes sense as she just dropped 10+ mb quick

Winds now matching Laura with a lower pressure by 2 hPa
Officially a stronger hurricane
We made fun of JBE for saying “the strongest hurricane to impact Louisiana since the 1800s” like he forget about Laura. Well that sack of shite might have lucked out and been right.
