I’ve been trying to warn my best friend and his wife for the past two hours. Probably passed out drunk.

I’m over it. We get what we deserve. Look at the elected leadership and the people and culture of the city and surrounding areas. We rebuilt that place 16 years ago. Maybe we would all be better off if we never did. I won’t do it again. My new thought is if we survive this where will I relocate my family.

Get ahold of yourself and take care of your fricking family

I'm at Terrebonne General on night shift through Tuesday. House in west Thibodaux. I have family right here in downtown Houma and my parents in Cut Off ( dad works for Levee district) I just got really really scared yall.

There are people staying in Houma? Seriously? I think that is an absolutely horrible idea. I’m not sure which is worse at this point, being in Houma or being stuck on I-10 trying to get out. Honestly. They need to leave now.

Correct me if I am wrong, but even if Ida makes Cat 5, won’t the surge likely be less than Katrina? She was moving so much water when she finally made landfall, whereas Ida maybe won’t be moving as much since she just recently became a major?

Ida's going to be pushing a lot of water, but yeah, hard to beat Katrina's surge.

The thing is, the way the wind is going to work, NOLA looks to be well protected from the levees. Katrina pushed a bunch of water into the lake and then pushed it south at the city. This is going to be coming from the SE.

Which is why I worry about south end of the levee system a lot more in this case.

I didn't even think about the hospitals already being stressed out because of Covid Delta.

Stay strong. It's going to be rough couple of days.

I’m contemplating going door to door with this stupid family and begging them to leave. This is getting worse by the minute
even tough as nails from their parents toughening out canes, hard-headed people-- may want to get in a car when they hear cat 4 and maybe 5.

“Nola got the west side of Katrina as a Cat3/4.

Now we’re going to get the east side of a Cat5? I don’t know that the city survives this.”

Katrina was a different beast however and main thing was levee broke which made it 10x worse.

Is Acadia parish to Lafayette parish completely out of the woods? Or is this thing going to expand enough for us to be in west side

Anyone else considering leaving BR now after these updates? Am I delirious from reading this stuff all day/overreacting

I just got up and packed a quick bag got my meds together and then kind of sat back and said you are 90 miles from the coast in Baton Rouge...82 year old Parents are staying, Brothe ris staying, I have a broken back waiting for surgery, two elderly animals I can't even pick up to put in a car right now, and I realized with it being Cat 1 or 2 here in BR I am panicing and not thinking clearly. Going to get some sleep. Tomorrow will be a long day but we will survive this and live to hate August 29th even more. May almighty God watch over all of my Louisiana Brothers and Sisters..

Well I just got done walking through the house taking video of each room and contents. Will get the outside once the sun rises. I'm beyond stressed right now.

Upload that file to the cloud if you can. Don’t take the chance that your camera or phone doesn’t make it through.

Absolute tragedy that not even a single effort was made by public services to help the disabled or elderly residents that don't have anyone and will be now going through extreme mental anguish (if not worse)

This has the makings to legitimately be one of the worst disasters ever. There are so so many people staying with absolutely no prep and no idea what’s coming. This is going to be something worse than a tragedy.

I know several staying in the Houma/Thibodaux area. The same damn theme 'it won't be that bad'. Zack Fradella's post made me call them all and at least try one more time. shite.

Glad I left my house in the River Ridge area, just hope it’s still standing when I return. Looks like with these new models it’ll be real close to the worst parts of the storm.

There goes getting any sleep tonight…
