Why the frick are we sending an Air Force Reconnaissance Aircraft to investigate Hurricane Nora?? frick Mexico when we have a storm bearing down on an American state.

LINK

quote:

Hurricane Nora Discussion Number 14 NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL EP142021 1000 PM CDT Sat Aug 28 2021 Surface data from Mexico, data from an Air Force Reserve Hurricane Hunter aircraft, and microwave imagery from an 2344 UTC SSMIS indicate that the center of Nora moved over the far northwestern coast of Jalisco earlier this evening. Since then, the cloud pattern of the hurricane has degraded, but not enough to bring the latest Dvorak estimates below hurricane strength. The advisory intensity is therefore set at 65 kt based on the assumption that interaction with land has caused weakening, however there is low confidence in this assessment.

Posting this again because I feel it deserves to be seen

I hope 100% of those living in mobile homes have left because there is literally zero chance those homes won’t be destroyed.

Based on the latest pass from the NE-SW through #Ida's center, recon found:
- 943.6 hPa extrapolated min MSLP (need to wait for dropsonde to confirm)
- 133 kt flight-level wind
- 116 kt SFMR estimated surface wind

This is bad. Really bad.

This storm is going to absolutely etchasketch style annihilated the coast whenever it finally lands and then tear apart everything in its path for a hundred miles. God help us .

Does that chart seem to show over 100mph wind in Baton Rouge?

So if youve lived within like 75 miles of the Louisiana coast in the last 16 years you’ve had your life wrecked at least once?

I've lived 36 years in central lafourche parish and honesty haven't ever had my life wrecked.

Edit to add its a roughly 40 mile drive from my house to port fourchon
I'm very thankful for that too. This is only the second storm I've left for. The first was Gustav. Never more than minor damage

I'm still just seeing the 116 in the raw data file.

Where are you seeing 133?

Not that I don't believe you...
