Don’t say this. I can see why people want to stay. Don’t wish this on anyone

Orleans Parish is heavy democrat. Not sure what numbers you're looking at.

She said there wasn’t enough time for mandatory evacuations 3 days before landfall

Did Katrina issue mandatory evac literally the day before?

I fricking hate her so so so so much

New Orleans has never elected a Republican. I'm not sure why they choose the dumbest possible Democrats though.

We prepared for one category above, cat 5. A lot of people are still here. Hopefully the marshlands can absorb most of the surge

I hope so too. I dont know what its going to end up looking like.

Youre a hero for staying with the elderly in this situation though. Seriously. But be ready

Has Ponchatoula ever even flooded? I'm not aware of it ever flooding. I know going east towards areas like Bedico it floods but I've never heard Ponchatoula flooding tbh? Maybe I heard wrong. That's a good question though.
Not sure about the actual town but plenty of folks east and west on 22 have and do. There’s a lot of marsh and swamp between there and Manchac that I assume is going to get lake water with this setup.

That’s good. My folks are about a half a mile from the river on the other side of 310. They are pretty high and never had an issue with water.

During Katrina we had some minor roof damage and some rooms get water from wind driven rain. But I would expect this to be worse than Katrina for Destrehan.

Can you get elderly into the attic?? Make a Plan for that if they’re with you just in case.

I am so sorry. All I can do is pray.

Hmm if the pumps are working properly they might can handle that w/o signficant flooding.

They don’t have spare seals? Let me pick the crew with an open checkbook and I’ll have those frickers fixed before it makes landfall.

I pray for anyone in the path of this of this as storm. I live in Lake Charles, and while I did not stay for Laura or Delta, the aftermath of a storm of this caliber cannot be underestimated, most parts of LC did not have even basic human necessities for 2-3 weeks at the least, meaning clean sanitary water, working sewer systems ( in some places), or electricity for 6-8 weeks (Mine was out 27 days), and still then it blinked off and on for another week to 10 days. Then 6 weeks later we got hit again.

Went through hurricane Laura last year. It’s like the 5 stages of grief, terrible experience. Praying for you all.

We have a D for Governor. Explain to me how that happens 50% of the time. Really more than 50% of the time.

BION, I've done a thread on Parrish voting 2 years ago. Turnout w regard to registered party is the issue. Your AG is Republican.

What I’m mostly worried about is that this is a new house with tones of glass and windows.
