Why do people keep pointing out that this is gonna hit on the same date as Katrina?

You’ve got like a 6 week timeframe for major hurricanes, it’s not that frickin rare

It’s hard for me to call them retarded when I’m doing the exact same thing in the exact same place. But I’m sure many would call us both retarded

Just looked at the 18Z HWRF and HMON. This is fricking insane. Houma is absolutely fricked if those runs end up being accurate.

This dude on TWC knows where a lot of shite in Houma is, but he’s calling everything by a slightly incorrect name, and it’s making me irrationally angry

I'm not really worried for their house as it's on the metairie ridge. More concerned that they won't be able to get out after the storm passes for whatever reason.

After the past 18 months I was worried people may think the storm was hoax. I’m relieved to see that everyone is following the science. Please listen to your local officials and meteorologists

Most, I don’t know if they’re all done.

Levee system sucks last time I looked into it. In Montegut, they were driving sheet pilings into the levees, but if they hit a root or rock they would just cut the sheets to be even on top

00z NAM is pushing higher rainfall totals even farther East now. That's in line with the Sim. Reflectivity run of the HRRR we saw earlier.

It is just around 50% through the run right now, so no totals yet.

I feel you. My parents are riding it out in lakeview which has me completely stressed and part of the reason I’m staying. Planning to go over there Monday and drag them out if it’s bad. Worst case they can come over here.

How many miles eastward from eye center does hurricane winds above say 85-90 mph extend?
