This thing is going to frick up so many plans for people flying to vegas and Los Angeles for the LSU game

We make the joke about "Will this impact the LSU opener?" but we get a ton of tropical landfalls in Louisiana around opening game weekend.

Since 2008 there's been landfalls within a few days of the first LSU game in:

2008 Hurricane Gustav
2011 Tropical Storm Lee
2012 Hurricane Isaac
2017 Tropical Storm Harvey (Hurricane Harvey DID impact the LSU game in Houston)
2020 Hurricane Laura if they kept the original schedule
2021... Maybe

It shows how active the tropics are in late August

Two downvotes, but this is a fact.

Lack of planes in the air last year hurt forecasters.

I posted an article. We're not dealing with the brightest bulbs on this site.

So any guesses as to if this thing shifts back way west as in Texas/La border?

*educated guesses

Got that center formed up a lot faster and on the north side. 12z was fighting the monsoon trough surface trough area for dominance at this point.

990 before it gets in the gulf, that would be a big fricking "yikes"

Yea looks like it has it in the low 980's once it emerges in the gulf not good on this run.

Did the cone move? What’s everyone on about? Is this not going to LC anymore?

You might want to wait until this thing at least forms. The models seem to be all over the place.

While it might mean much to a trained eye, it looks like a Spirograph image on acid to me.

It’s actually pretty easy if you read the bottom. Green is favorable for tropical development/strengthening, yellow is neutral meaning there is probably something to hinder any rapid development but also won’t rip apart a developed system. Red means hostile environment

No cone yet, a couple models are showing eastern trends but from what I would say corpus to biloxi should be alert
