People are losing their minds

I just need to come to work for like an hour. Was hoping getting in early would be quick. Thankfully it breaks up after the high rise

ETA: slightly breaks up.

I’m in Covington and not leaving. I posted this a hundred pages back for some criteria to evaluate leaving:

quote:

Would being without power for a week (or possibly longer) cause you significant problems beyond inconvenience?

Do you have an old house?

Do you have tall pine trees around your house?

Do you have young kids?

Do you have a job that requires wifi or cell service?

Do you live in an area that floods regularly?

If the answer to any of those questions is yes, I would consider leaving.

Its more about losing A/C than safety for a lot of folks

Fixed it for you.

After Zeta, the weather had turned pretty comfortable so no AC wasn’t that big of a deal.

Interesting that all major models are picking up on the west side kinda falling apart right at landfall with very rapid weakening

Thank you! That’s what I thought but I wasn’t sure. We will definitely have it on the floor or close to it near where we will be staying. Think we’re just gonna all huddle up in one room with our trusty little window unit ac

This will be us once the storm passes. And let me tell you. Our little window unit will make our room FREEZING. We have that, the tv with a DVD player, a lamp and my husband cpap (cuz no one will sleep with his snoring) and we all just sleep in the master bedroom.

Also new GFS and HWRF continue right on NHC track

That seems to be what weather channel is saying. Yet people are saying still CAT 2 in BR. ??

Carbon monoxide is heavy

Incorrect. It’s slighter than air and mixes

Carbon monoxide has a molecular weight which is slightly lighter than air; but despite that fact, it doesn't just rise to the ceiling. The difference in density between air and CO is minimal,

We’re also staying put. I have a generator on the house, so I’m not worried about power. Not worried about flooding either. I’m just worried about tornadoes.

NOLA should be used to having bullets flying everywhere along with flooding. Not sure why anybody would leave especially all the WOKE carpetbagger transplants.

We are still over 24 hours from landfall. A lot can change. Also this thing is going to be strong af at landfall. I don’t begrudge nola area peeps for leaving. Could go 80 miles west of us or it very well could slam us directly.

I have no pine trees, but a 190 year old live oak. Live oaks can withstand hurricanes right?

If one wanted to leave BR, anyone know how traffic on 49 North is moving? Considering Alexandria or Natchitoches

It’s the trees for us. We haven’t had flooding issues here and bayou fountain runs behind our house. But the trees make me nervous.

I've got a colossal live oak in my yard. That thing didn't get as old as it is without surviving some badass storms.

I still don't plan to sleep under it though.
