My friend stayed in her home during Laura and by the time she figured out she'd screwed up she was stuck there. She has videos of the entire house shaking from the wind and water pouring in down all of the walls, her couch and a bunch of other big furniture pushed up against the door to try to stop it from being forcibly flung open and only barely succeeding.

Reminds me of the February ice storm

Dish would go out every few minutes. I’d get a broom stick and knock the icicles off and we were good to go

He deeply regretted staying. He was not a young hot head but a guy in his late 50s.

The only thing left to do is pray to the God who gave us Ivermectin because this is going to be bad.

Seriously, I'm not on the coast. I know that doesn't matter for wind, but I have 0 chance of flooding. I have not decided mainly because I don't know how long it'll be before we can get back to town assuming non-total devastation.

BR will only have to deal with cat 1

Yeah but it's a sliding scale. Gustav was a cat 2 at landfall, and was "only a tropical storm" when it got to BR. Things were fricked for 2+ weeks after.

Well yeah, neither do I.

I wouldn't want to roll the dice on being one of the homes not hit. I've seen neighborhoods with 10% homes destroyed but I've seen some with 50% too.

I haven't talked to a single person who stayed for Laura that didn't regret the decision to stay. Not one.
