After seeing a lot of people stay I wonder if Zeta lulled us into safety.

As of right now with the current track staying in NOLA isn't crazy if you are ok with some flooding and power being out. A Morgan City landfall isn't exactly a few miles away.

I didn't know there was a name for this. I've been considering doing this, because my carport opens out to my pool. Wouldn't want to close that side in. Never considered the weather implications of that though

We have this, a double carport with garage doors, with walls on two sides but it opens out into the pool. Its good for entertaining.

How miserable is the drive to Houston going to be?

probably not great, but worse the longer you wait. like Slow said a few pages back, for delta folks were in the car 10 hours before hitting the state line. but there was a newly bred rabid fear there, so every person was getting the hell out. but I'd go ASAP if your hitting it. and use waze in case back roads are better.

Im in Mandeville with a one year old. Wife and I were planning to go to Orange Beach to stay at the family condo, but my sister and her family are there and her two year old is sick. My daughter just got over being sick so don't feel comfortable being around them. My in laws have a generator in Central but shite, I don't know if I want to drive over there. Not quite sure what to do.

Just put a garage door on both sides.

My neighbor has this except no pool or back patio even. Looks completely pointless with no pool.

He slapped a garage door on the back side and both ended up blowing out during Laura.

When are we looking at landfall…still Sunday night/Monday morning?

Yeah, would be even later if Sulphur was in the line of fire.

It has "good" elevation, but pretty much all of the roads in the neighborhood are being re-done so drainage is seemingly non-existent at the moment... Areas that really didn't flood much are flooding once a week this summer

Whole damn city is under construction to spend that FEMA money before it expires. They started working on my street (Short street , near Carrollton/Claiborn) a year ago. Still under construction

Idk, we're leaning towards leaving too... hearing stories from people who stayed for Laura, IDK if I wanna stay. I was here for Gustav, but this one will be WAY worse.

That's definitely the smarter move if you can swing it.

Be sure to let folks know if you stay.

In the last 30 years, is Andrew the worst storm for Morgan City?

I feel bad for you BR folks. With the leadership in that city, recovery will likely be slow and insufficient.

I don't remember any other major MC storms. The Boat is the resident hurricane historian, though.
