Ida, now with winds of 65 mph, is expected to become a hurricane later today. Landfall comes Sunday evening on the Louisiana coast; it will be a dangerous, major hurricane at that point.

Surge will be a freaking bitch for a whole lot of places if this happens, though, won't it?
good point- yes it will, except I don't know what if any factor the forward speed of the storm has on storm surge. The pro's would know. But I do know two big factors that affect storm surge is size of the storm and of course intensity of the winds.

Wow, Spann is captain obvious today. To be fair, he doesn't have to make much effort to get clicks. All he really does now is retweet photos from other people.

Too late for now but for the future, if you have a well with a water pump, cut the power line running to the pump and install a socket and plug. I did it and now I can directly hook up the water pump to my generator and can get water.

This one might be worse than Gustav for BR. Gustav was an absolute bitch. I still think that one was worse than Katrina where I was located. Wasn't fun seeing trees get flung around by tornadoes.

Ok cause for Laura I thought the western eye wall and side was “worse”. Thanks.

It was Delta that the western eye wall was worse.

The front right quadrant with respect to forward motion is the bad one. Typically NE quadrant for Louisiana storms.

That’s like 2nd grade

For the record: I know we troll and jab each other a lot here and on the SEC Rant, but I hope all of you LA guys get through this with as little damage and bad impacts as possible. Unfortunately, the amount of time y'all were given to prepare for this one is pretty slim, so I'm sure you guys have a lot of stress going on right now. Just prepare the best you can, leave if you're in a very vulnerable place, and I think y'all will pull through this thing just fine.

Prayers out for all of you.

Is the S inland a typo on the 10am cone image? Or will it drop that fast so quickly?

No, you switched to a crappy company that Geico sells for 2%. Good luck!
