I'm in North Covington almost to Folsom. I haven't decided what I am doing. I want quickest access to the camp in Bay St Louis once this passes.

This one will be worse than Gustav for BR.
FIFY
To my downvoter: I live/work in BR (and was here for Gustav as well) and take no pleasure in this fact.

I live in a newer neighborhood in south BR that has very few large trees and underground powerlines....not in a flood zone. Any reason to consider evacuation? Other than potential for no power?

No, you switched to a crappy company that Geico sells for 2%. Good luck!
They're super nice about collecting my premiums.

Flash flooding will be an issue for this one as well. 12 hours to get from Houma to BR will dump a ton of rain on a massive area.

Ehhhh. Looks like it moved it back to where it had it on 18z on the 26th and upped the intensity ALOT

quote:no, current projection by the NHC shows 70 mph max. sustained winds for its closest pass near BR. I'm sure gusts will be higher, but not cat 2/3 levels. I do however think that this could be very comparable to what Gustav did and could very well be worse.
Did I read this correctly that it could be a cat 2 or 3 over baton rouge?

Yep the slowdown is gonna be a nightmare for rain totals
Probably a 100 mile swath east of center getting 10”+ in 24 hours

If you're in BR and aren't under any trees, the only reason to leave is to avoid extended power outages.
