Yes it did, although I think the worst damage from Gustav was because of tornadoes

Not much if at all. The steering won't be affected by this. That's pretty much locked in.

Hey. I’m here!
nkt leaving unless my husband drags me out. Cat and dog are no fun to evacuate with.
Don’t have trees close enough to fall and that would be my main worry.

Can’t wait to see the 10am updates track and forecast.
Also, the steering is pretty locked in so even if it a tad further north right now, it should by and large still end up in the same location.

Look if you want a summary here you go.
If you leave in south Louisiana, you are probably fricked. Any storm impact shifts now likely will only really benefit places on the very edge of the cone, (Pensacola, lake Charles) Everyone else in the cone should assume they are going to have hurricane conditions.
If you have a boat on or near the water go get it now. Geico Marine and a lot of policies Sent warning yesterday and a reminder they have 1000 or more to move your boat. (All you young sea rats that aren’t doing shite, go help move some boats and make some money. My sons buddies make 3k-5k a piece moving big boats last year in a day and a half)
It’s going to be a Cat 3 or bigger. The models have been extremely consistent so far as hitting between New Orleans and Lafayette, Sunday to Monday. If you are in this area and probably south Hancock County, you can expect hurricane conditions and a week or two power outage, (who knows how many power crews are available rn with covid etd) Yes, Baton Rouge that’s you too.
The NE corner of the storm is going to get the worse of this for tornados etc. This is going to really really suck, and you need to prepare.
Take photos and videos of your house before the storm put in cloud etc, and take hour to video all your stuff. Gas up all cars, fill cans, Ice up big coolers, get batteries, etc, you guys know the drill. Cut your grass and wash all your clothes now too, and buy extra deodorant, baby powder etc. (The after hurricane smell is something you never forget) and Prey.
Good luck, I hope it’s the neighbor a-hole that gets creamed and not you. (Unless you are the neighborhood a-hole)

However, deridder is more inland than BR and they got 90-100 from Laura
Winnfield is 50 miles due north of Alexandria and they got winds clocked at 100 and had complete power outages for a week.

So that new center fix renders the models run at 12Z obsolete already?

I think part of the deal with Gustav was the sheer amount of rain combined with the wind.
IIRC, Gustav was the one where I kept seeing giant oak trees in midcity overturned because the root system pulled out of the ground completely.

A 50 mile shift in either direction could have catastrophic results for a place like New Orleans or on the other end Lafourche/Terrebonne.
