Here it is. Don't hate me. Just one model with a history of over-estimating intensity.

Katrina intensified into a cat 1 a little closer to the Florida gulf coast and a cat 5 a little further from the Louisiana gulf coast

Yes, but that surge was still Cat 5 like. Just ask those poor frickers on the MS Gulf Coast.

ETA: maybe it's different because they said it was a GIF

That's not from the Cat 5 toward the Mouth of the Mississippi.
It's days out, not ready to panic even with the worst case scenario showing up as a possible solution.

Correct. Like I said, that model has it reaching cat 5 later in the process. Katrina was further from the coast when it got to Cat 5, but it was also closer to the Florida coast when it reached cat 1. I was speaking to the distance intervals.

For one storm in the past, it got stickied BUT ONLY CERTAIN CREDIBLE POSTERS were allowed to post in that thread.
If this forms into anything, maybe admins would consider that??? It IS nice when needed to have accurate information posted by those who know weather.

don't get your panties in a wad Nancy.

I don't think, at least I hope, that anyone here is cheering this storm on. Louisiana needs to not even get a whiff of this thing - I'm far more concerned with the rain it might bring than its strength.

ETA: Before the cool kids come in here and say everyone is being stupid for overreacting that gif was posted as a joke.
