We are beginning to gust pretty good now. I am about to leave for Tampa. I should be back home by noon though.

I just hope all of the other degenerates stay off the road.

Wow....what a difference 20-30 miles can make. Hope this stays offshore the rest of the way.
They just doubled storm surge predictions for Charleston. Also predicted possible Charleston landfall. Hopefully, just an effort to scare folks into evacuating. Sounds like a lot of beach damage at the least though.

Tides are about 4 1/2 feet variance. If the thing hits with the projected 6ft surge at high tide, it will overwash our islands. Not good. High tides are at ~1am and 1pm Saturday.

Family living down in Stuart are all safe and did not lose power.
Getting very mild wind and rain here in Gville. Should ramp up in a few hours.

ETA: brother lost power and a family friend in Melbourne lost power.

Looking good Penn. Issue for us will be that it comes by Jax at high tide today. Storm will stay off the coast 60 miles or so.

From a scientific perspective, does it seem like wind speeds even on the coast are rather low?

I feel the storm surge will be the worst part of the storm. And I know it is wind-related...

After watching some of the broadcasts, and I'm not sure why these local stations feel like it is wise to put their reporters who never cover this type of event out there in the worst of the winds to do live reporting.

Leave that kind of stuff to the Reed Timmer and Jim Cantore type of people.

Ok. Thank you.

Some of the numbers I was reading must have been predictions for later.

That eye is drifting further to the east hopefully this continues. Storm is about 120 miles south of where my house is. Hopefully it keeps drifting east

Not liking the way this is looking at the moment for SC.

Yeah I'm pretty worried for you guys down in the Lowcountry. I really hope it pulls east and it isn't terrible.

Yep. Timing of a large surge could be bad.

Just announced Matthew remains Cat3.
Winds 120mph moving NNW at 13mph.

Yeah, it doesn't look good for Georgia and South Carolina if continues this trek.
