What in the absolute shite?
TWC is calling for the worst storm in east/central Florida history and saying people WILL die if they don't leave. I understand that this needs to be taken seriously, but I've never heard talk like this before. Making it sound like some biblical event. They are being a bit ridiculous...

They aren't wrong and its apparent you haven't been through a storm like this before otherwise you would get the frick out.

Its not like they are saying everyone who stays will die. It is damn near a fact that some people will die if they stay. Its much better than them saying meh its probably cool stay. I rather them tell people to gtfo.

Good to go over here. Cooking some shrimp and grits and watching the storm from the other side of the State.
Should be fine but these goddamn storm surge predictions are getting worse and worse. That shite can stop right now, dammit.

I do. And I remember you calling it on here. This was a great communication board both before and after Katrina. I stayed on here until my power went out. Wish we could read those threads.

I've lived in Florida for ~20 years. I've been through storms. I'm not careless enough to ride this out or let my family ride it out.

HOW IS THE GUY WHO WAS ON GTMO?????
Posted on 10/6/16 at 5:39 pm to ReauxlTide222
Dude this storm could end up worse than Katrina. You realize it could hit them twice and then to top that off the Gulf Coast might need to worry about it hitting the rest too if it loops over Florida. This storm could skull frick multiple states...

Hurricane Katrina's max winds were "only" 120 mph when it landed in Mississippi. It did this.
Long Beach, Mississippi
140 mph equates to almost 60% more power and can cause human suffering that is almost unimaginable.

It's a different animal entirely, but maybe scaring people into action is an ok thing in these scenarios.
I do worry about people becoming desensitized, especially with regard to hurricanes. Part of it is expectations, people expect an 140mph storm to bring legit 140mph sustained winds, and that just rarely seems to happen. But at that strength, considerably weaker effects than the average person expects can obviously still be devastating.

Hey boys, with the continuing of the jog NW, I'm about to sign off to ensure the maximum charging of everything I have.
Good luck to my fellow Floridians up north.
Pray for me in Palm City.

cool little gif of the storm surge expectations.
Oh and the measurement in the upper right corner are in meters not feet.
