They just updated the storm surge inundation map for Florida. I STRONGLY suggest those along the coast take a look and see how it looks where they are - NHC

Luckily, like I said earlier, that deadly part of the storm won't affect me. Closest part to me is 1 or 3 feet above ground, and that's still a couple miles away.

What's the continental shelf like on the ocean side of the Florida peninsula?

I'm actually in that Palm City graphic, but luckily I'm going to be fine there.
Thanks for posting that man, really.

No problem. Be safe out there since you're staying put. As a participant in this thread you're also obligated to give us updates and pictures on a regular basis as the sun comes up tomorrow morning - assuming it is safe to do so of course.

I don't recall who all is in the Jacksonville area and who is staying put in that area, but the most recent model runs - basically the midday runs - are targeting the Jacksonville area with a chance the eye passes over or even to the west of Jacksonville, bring the strongest quadrant into play.

This is as far west as the GFS has been in a few days:

Going to be catastrophic losses of yachts and large outboard boats from this. Boggles the mind how many people have big $$$ boats and no way of getting them to safety.

Possibly. The NW quadrant is still a little shaky though.

The HWRF usually ramps up hurricanes too quickly, but it actually underestimated Matthew's current strength in the run 12 hours ago. Here is the current run that is ongoing. Actually has the pressure bombing out to 921 mb at 18 hours out but doesn't increase the winds any stronger than 140 mph.

Probably not.

It's got the fuel and the lack of sheer, but it's running out of time to have the pressure drop significantly. Looks like it's holding steady now. Will probably increase in strength as it gets back into open waters. 145-150 is my best guess at landfall.
