Yeah, when there were 13 colonies of similar size it made complete sense. Now? Nah, it’s outdated as badly as the electoral college. The founders would be appalled by how many voters are essentially being taxed without representation in this country.

My parents drove back from New Mexico to Gulf Breeze last week and my dad said that driving through DFW was absolute hell and it tested his resolve.
I guess nobody told him he could take I20 that goes all the way around the south part and avoids the big traffic. I30 is what goes through both downtowns

I love living in Allen(Collin County, north of Dallas), but anytime I go north to Frisco and beyond it gives me anxiety. Cranes everywhere. Universal Studios Kids and the billions of dollars of construction around the tollway.
It will connect to Oklahoma before long. They project we will pass Chicago for 3rd biggest metro by 2030

Dallas metro has more people than Tennessee and Missouri?
Missouri has 2 major cities: St Louis and Kansas City
Tennessee has Memphis and Nashville

Memphis is 630k people
Plano is nearly 300k people. The burbs of Dallas are bigger than most cities and then you have Dallas proper and Fort Worth

And every one of those states gets 2 senators. ~70% of our Senate COMBINED represent less people than the DFW metro. kinda fricked up.
Oh sweet Jesus. Words, and their arrangement, matter.

Houston is the same way.
Now put into perspective given the sports centric nature of this site that College Station is 1.5 hours to Houston and 2.5 to Dallas.
Austin minimally further.
Houston got a substantial talent infusion in 2005 in addition to the already fertile recruiting grounds.
Yet UT hasn’t won a NC in 20 years and TAMU in who knows how long.
Think about that.
TAMU is so weird that they are next to talent rich football crazy metros that have near double population that the entire state of Louisiana EACH.
They are so weird that they still can’t win anything.

People like a bitch about everything
The size of DFW metro is bigger than the state of Massachusetts
There are about 50 different suburbs to choose from. I work from home so I don’t deal with traffic and I have everything I could ever need within 30 minutes, including 6 professional teams, any major concert, and an airport that flies direct anywhere in the world.

Tyler is an hour east of Dallas. It could happen. Then Kilgore. Then Longview
Posted on 10/16/25 at 6:21 pm to WMTigerFAN
………………Then Shreveport. Oh wait

Pretty much the same for Houston or San Antonio. Everything’s bigger in TX.
Houston yes. Greater San Antonio is not even a 1/3 of DFW.

Are an abomination. I've already paid for the road once. Why should I pay for it again?
When they first started building them they were supposed to only charge a toll until the bill for the road was paid but they just couldn't give up the revenue. Its gotten bad out my way west of fort worth. I work in downtown fort worth and it takes me 40 minutes to get to work woth no traffic but usually takes me between 65 and 75 minutes during rush hour. Its the price I pay to live on my small 2.5 acre lot.

Good, that's less people around God's Country, of which I reside

San Antonio metro is tiny. Austin is bigger
San Antonio has a massive city limits so the majority of the population is inside of that. Dallas is very small city limits why is why the city population won’t grow much more but the metro is.

We first moved to Frisco in 1993. It was "country" back then and only had a population of about 5K. When we left 30 years later in 2023 to move back to Louisiana, it was massive, had really bad traffic and 260K people.
