How often do you go to Starbucks?
I go to the original in Pike Place at least once a week. It's really good

but their entire schtick from Day One did not resonate with me. They have always (too hard) attempted to portray themselves as too cool for school.
How so? They sold coffee beans to people. These folks, right here…just trying to make a living. They had no idea it would become what it did. Where is this schtick you speak of in this pic? Don’t be mad because they did something well and thrived. That spirit is the American dream and should be supported. They started in 1971 when no one was making specialty coffees. They didn’t make expresso drinks till 1984. They sold beans and equipment for 13 years. I doubt they thought they were too cool for anyone.

$7 cup of coffee
A 16oz. Regular coffee is $3.85 in mid-town Manhattan. You’re not hitting $7 unless you go for a 16oz specialty Frappuccino, which is really a milkshake.

Typically more expensive, less friendly and don’t like their basic coffee as much as most alternative options. If it’s the closest/easiest I’ll do it but it’s not the first choice.

Like the Ford discussion, their problem isn't their stores (although some of their baristas make me want to vomit), it's the price. All the other chains are undercutting them and Starbucks is acting like they are the Porsche of pouring coffee.

Not being woke, Conservatives hating assholes and not charging $9 for a cup of coffee would do wonders for business.

When they made fun of Christianity and promoted the woke agenda I stopped getting coffee from them. I didn’t go often to begin with but those 6-7 cups a year are now purchased from PJ’s which I discovered is superior anyway.

Competition is eating their lunch.
They used to be the only game in town, now we got Dutch Bros, 7brew, scooters..... And so on

The issue I had with Starbucks was their expansion strategy:
Urban neighborhood already has great independent coffee houses every few blocks. Starbucks opens franchises and not just one in a larger area but often, literally, 3 locations in a two block radius surrounding another popular independent shop.
They initially sell at much lower prices and have comfortable enough and welcoming seating.
Seems like corporate capitalism winning for the everyday person.
Until Starbucks drives the independent shops out of business, close 2/3 of their own locations and raise prices, get rid of seating at the remaining ones.
The final result of that "win" is the average person walking a few extra blocks to get a coffee that's not as good as it used to be and twice as expensive with no place to sit for a minute and drink it.
The corporate chain business model executed to perfection.
