If this thing ever makes meaningful progress, I predict most of the big companies and workers will come from out of state. Most of the non-skilled and lightly skilled labor will come from Hispanic H1-B visa holders specially granted by the administration. T-Pop Bonin and Rillius Dauterive from Loreauville ain’t gettin jack from this. I predict that 10 years from now we will have a destroyed and polluted coast line littered with abandoned foundations, pilings, and man camps.

What I’m suggesting is that those “welfare towns” will remain as such because they won’t be participating in whatever economic development takes place. They will be bypassed, stepped over, overlooked, neglected, etc. in favor of self contained operations.

Heck there maybe even a spillover to the Amelia Belle. I heard this month they are finally ditching the boat in a few years. Next year construction is expected to start. The Advocate slipped in the news when Boomtown in Harvey announced that it will move on land too and rebrand as Hollywood New Orleans and showed some renderings. My only issue about the Hollywood New Orleans conceptual drawings made it look like a fancy Walmart of Gambling.
It doesn’t look like a casino. It looks more like a place to get bread, milk, and eggs.

I’ve been living in this state for the better part of 60 years. I’ve heard this song and dance a hundred times. La. can’t do something as “simple” as getting a Buc-ee’s up and running. I ain’t holding my hand over my butt waiting for this to happen.

My family and friends have always joked that I am a Negative Nancy. But I pale in comparison to the negativity of people on this board and on social media in general.
