I can tell you that as a man yeast infection hurts like hell.
I had a skeeter bite on my leg that necessitated super antibiotics. Dr said it was MRSA.
Hurt like hell. It seemed like everything hit it.

Try having MRSA in your sinuses

I had one back in 2013 on my knee. Hurt like a mother fricker. When it finally popped, I called out of work for the day. Had a fever and it poured blood and puss for hours.
Anyway, here are the pics!
This was the day I realized it wasn't a big bite.
This was two days later and the day I went to the urgent care. They put me on bactrim.
This was one day later, the day it popped. Before and after. I wish I had taken a picture of the puss ball that came out. It was hard and about the size of mentos.
And after

That happened to me back in the 80's. Couldn't hear worth a damn and this weird purple looking sinus discharge.
I'll never forget that.

Y’all got any experience with this shite and what to expect?
Yep. One on my forearm circa 2002 and one on chin in 2009. The Forearm was same as your, picked at a follicle. My chin/mouth was from shaving with an old razor I found in our bathroom drawer(realllly fricking stupid).
Both were miserably painful for about 2 weeks as the infection starts off really bad in morning, subsides by evening, and swells up again the next morning.
Put the medicines on it and it'll go away. You'll live.

Don't drain the abscess.
Just to clarify be careful with terminology in this bit of advice...if it is truly an abscess (ie pus filled), it should be drained - will get better way quicker, and if deep enough, may not drain spontaneously. If it is simply cellulitis, then I agree, should not be incised. The way to tell clinically (by exam) is if it has fluctuance (is it "squishy") or is it indurated (woody or firm and typically with apparent erythema and no fluctuance). A physician or surgeon dealing with wounds should be able to tell this easily with exam.
I have seen providers take a knife to an indurated area mistaking cellulitis without abscess for an actual abscess and this is counter-productive. The advantage of incision and drainage is the ability to obtain culture and sensitivity for appropriate and as narrow spectrum as possible antibiotic therapay.

I had it from our dog scratching my calf when I was playing tug of war with her. Got scratched on a Wednesday and left for Disney that Saturday. Was at the urgent car Monday. Had a sizable hole in my leg from it and still have a scar and that was in ‘17.

I got a mrsa infection on the bottom of my toe years ago when I had tried to get a tiny splinter out. Within three days I could not sleep it had gotten infected so bad. I saw an orthopedic surgeon and he did surgery on the bottom of my toe the next day to stop it from spreading. Hurt like a freaking bitch. It actually felt better after surgery even though I had a chunk of the bottom of my big toe cut out and packed.

Staph is terrible. I fought with recurrent infections in my nose, my armpits, and on one of my nipples for 2 years of my life. Finally went to an immunologist to figure out why I kept getting them and it turned out I needed a pneumococcal vaccine. He prescribed the Prevnar 13 shot for me and ever since then I haven't had a single infection. Going on 7 years without it now and I couldn't be happier. My son inherited the same deficiency I had and he started getting the infections too. Got him to an immunologist and gave him the kid version of that shot and same thing, no more infections. Staph can get very ugly very quickly so it's good that you got clindamycin because that shite works fast. If you get it again, see an immunologist to see if you could benefit from that shot as well.

Switch to Dial soap because that shite kills anything.
When I had recurrent infections was when I finally learned that there's a difference in soaps. I always used a deodorant soap, thinking it was cleaning me. Turns out it just washed the dirt off and made me smell good. Dial is an actual antibacterial soap (I thought all soap was until then) and we've switched to that ever since. It is the best antibacterial bath soap. Use it and don't look back.

Staph ended my son's Junior year. Septic shock and ended up having surgery to remove a bursa sack from his knee.

Dude.. Wow. Are some people predisposed or something, in that you do so much to prevent it now?

I never had it until I was in my 30s. I think once a strain colonizes your nose it's tough to get rid of it.

Try a fresh slice of potato taped over the area and leave it on for a few hours if you can. Will suck out the bad stuff and no side effects. Repeat for a couple of days. Worked on my wife's staph infection boil she had on her knee.

If they aren’t testing your blood go find another doctor. I had it on a ring finger that went from what looked like a mosquito bite to a spider bite to my hand starting to turn purple in 4 days. Day 2 I went a doc that lanced and drained it and put me on an oral antibiotic. Day 4 morning I was at a specialist, then surgery 2 hours later then 7 days of IV meds at my house. That shite don’t play, specialist said I was close to losing the finger and maybe my hand if I was lucky enough my blood didn’t go septic and kill me

Went to urgent care earlier today and got prescribed clindamycin and Norco but they didn’t test for the strain.
I had a little bump on my finger tip that got infected and turned into MRSA. Hurt like a MFer to the point that I went to the ER and told them I'm ok with them amputating if the pain will stop. Pain meds weren't working. I had to go in surgery and they sliced my finger open from the tip almost to the base to get it all out.
Would not recommend staph/MRSA infections. They HURT.
