I don’t think anyone has mentioned it but using Hibiclens as a body wash and letting it soak in for thirty seconds to a minute then washing it off helps. Manuka Honey will also help by applying it to it.

These things are bad news and if not treated properly can be serious. The wife (no pics) had one a few years ago and was down for several weeks with all of the symptoms you described. After she was over the worst of the symptoms she was very weak for quite some time. Be sure you take all of the antibiotics prescribed.
Good luck

Dr. who opened up my knee to clean it out and put in the drains told me I was about 2 days away from losing my leg, minimum, could have gone worse from there.

Don't use alcohol
Why is that?

Alcohol will cause damage to the tissue and impede healing.
Same with peroxide.

As for not draining the abscess. I'm saying an individual at home in an unsterile environment shouldn't be lancing their own abscess. The risk for more infection is too great.

A physician should evaluate any serious infections to determine if draining is necessary. People can cause damage and make things much worse (like around ear, joints, blood vessels, etc.)

Enjoy the C Diff.

eat lots of yogurt with active cultures.

What is C Diff?

In all seriousness, if you begin experiencing lots of diarrhea call your MD.

I’ve had staph, didn’t feel norco level pain myself but I guess I could see it getting to that point.

Wondering how WigSplitta22 with MRSA on rib cage Dr. visit turned out.I can see a bad outcome if it chest wall was penetrated and MRSA got into his chest cavity.

I have had a few staph infections on my skin and they were very painful. But nothing compares to the pain that i felt when I got a staph infection in my spine after back surgery. I am talking sweating bullets and cursing any time that I put any weight on my left leg. I had the original surgery two days after Christmas 2021. In April 2022 is when I noticed this pain ramping up. Had an MRI and blood work that indicated an infection but we didn't know what kind. Infectious Disease recommended operating to clean and debride but the surgeon wanted to go conservative and treat with Vancomycin and Rocephin for 8 weeks followed by 4 weeks of Clindomycin and Levaquin. Exactly 4 weeks after finishing the IV antibiotics the pain came back and they decided to operate. The infection started to eat away at my spine and the doctor said that I was very close to losing the use of my left leg. They had to insert two rods and four screws in my spine. I am now 3 weeks post surgery and feeling much better but I
went through hell for the first seven months of this year. They were able to identify the infection as STAPH-EPI and we are now treating with Daptomycin for 8 weeks after surgery.

Man,that’s an awful story.Hope you make a full recovery.

Back in the early 2000’s I needed rotator cuff surgery. One my co-workers husband had the surgery and got MRSA infection.Went through hell with it,had to have port like chemotherapy and antibiotics at home.He eventually recovered.
I backed out of the surgery,I suffered with it for months but eventually recovered after I retired.

I have a PICC line and have to give myself an IV antibiotic treatment every day. Before they identified the bacteria I had to give myself two different IV antibiotic treatments daily. It really sucks but could have been much worse.
