I'm not trading 10 pages. Was it addressed why this was posted on the NIH website? Seems like Fauci's Orth is giving this hypothesis credence.

TIA

Do you wonder why those "Stanford researchers" are unnamed? Why no real Stanford University links or documents are referenced?

What are you talking about? The author’s name is right on top of the study, as posted in the 3rd party, peer reviewed journal issue.

Authors of that study six weeks later after their study was misinterpreted by laypeople and politicians:

“ We understand that some people are citing our Perspective article (published on April 1 at NEJM.org)1 as support for discrediting widespread masking. In truth, the intent of our article was to push for more masking, not less.”

Also from NEJM, by the way.

Uh-huh. Sure. There’s absolutely no way they were pressured by a third party to make that statement.

I’m just pointing out that right wingers are in this silly practice of lying to each other all the time. Like all the time. It’s sad and pathetic.

Hell, they keep making up genders for themselves because they've all lost their minds. It's really bad.

Oh wait, I thought you said left wingers.

And then you post a right-wing propaganda site. You just proved the previous posters point.

How fricking typical of you.

Do you believe anything? You literally dismiss EVERY.source that doesn't fit your narrow minded views.

It's a fricking video you can watch with your own eyes and ears of an executive admitting how they manipulate your mind. I guess they have done a wonderful job on you.

There's no right wing about it it's just a fact.

Of course I wouldn't expect you to actually watch it.

Surprised Stanford is allowed to release the results of such a study.

Absolutely, they will be eaten by their own.

Or, you could read the frickin links and see that Baruch Vainshelboim, the author, is stationed in Palo Alto. Where is Stanford again?

You can also Google the writer’s name and see his field of practice is exercise physiology and he works for a VA hospital in Palo Alto that doesn’t appear to have any link to Stanford.

Also interesting this “study” was first published on the site Medical Hypotheses.

Odd, a simple Google Search indicates that hospital is a "long term partner and affiliate" of Stanford:

Which is a peer-reviewed Journal that has existed since the 70s.

I'm not saying it's the NEJM, but it's not some internet forum like TD.

This isnt even close to the first research that concludes masks are ineffective. It isnt even the most credible or prestigious.

How are we supposed to "trust science" when libs scramble like rats to desperately discredit any research that strays from their political views? Or better, literally manufacture fake science for political purposes - like those two fake HCQ studies that were exposed?

If you want people to trust science, stop bastardizing it.

It's the liberal way. You SHALL think the way they think. You SHALL believe in what they believe in. If anybody doesn't or strays off course or even questions it, they are immediately tagged as wacko/hateful/racist/homophobic/etc. and anything they say is tagged as bullshite. If you are a business owner and speak your mind, they want your career ruined. If you are a lower level employee, they want you fired. You cannot challenge the liberal company line. You cannot question it. If it's said by anyone looked up to by liberals, it's the GOSPEL. There are only a few experts that qualify as "science" and those are the ones giving the answers they want to hear. Period.

So fricking tired of that mindset. When and how did we get here? I enjoyed when people could have differing opinions and could question things. And in this case, when research could come out that would scientifically question/challenge.

Yet the typical simple liberal comes out with the same responses. You can see quite a few in this thread. And the ironic thing is these simpletons who don't question anything have the nerve to lash out and call others stupid.

So the 1-5% of the day you have to wear a mask while running into stores is messing with their heads?

Do you not smile at your kids when you are at home?

The link to the study leads to a "Medical Hypotheses". I remember from my school-age science classes that this is merely a starting point for a study.

Missed that. Still, doesn't seem like this guy has much to do with Stanford, so it's a bit dishonest to call this a Stanford study. I scanned his report, and I didn't see any reference to the study being commissioned or financed by Stanford.

quote:

Which is a peer-reviewed Journal that has existed since the 70s.

It's onyl been peer-reviewed since 2010. And it's not peer-reviewed in the traditional sense where the reports and findings are scrutinized. It's only peer-reviewed for scientific merit. His hypothesis does have scientific merit, but it has been debunked by several people more knowledgeable in public health and communicable diseases, particularly his hypothesis that masks can have devastating health consequences.

There are better, more legitimate, studies out there addressing the ineffectiveness of masks.
