Someone had posted a study the other day saying it was a study from Stanford saying insane things like masks can cause diabetes. Well that article was not by Stanford Dr's. Stanford has released a statement regarding said article.

quote:

The paper has no affiliation with Stanford University. It was published by an exercise psychologist with "no academic connection to Stanford University" in a journal that publishes “radical, speculative and non-mainstream scientific ideas,"

Here is the TD thread that had the misinformation

Stanford study finds masks ineffective.

according to Snopes.

I guess we’ll just have to go with the CDC saying masks are less than 1.5% effective.

Nice edit to remove the according to Snopes part, hack.

Is it safe to just say that even the medical field doesn't really know what is best/effective in this situation based on the diversity of information and articles? That it really comes down to people believing that masks may help/doesn't hurt vs. they are a social/medical necessity?

It's safe to say that they know a lot more about what is/isn't than most people not in the medical field.

Same company also publishes The Lancet and Cell. Their "crime" is allowing their editors more freedom to publish articles that may go against "mainstream scientific ideas".

John's Hopkins said that the lack of masks at "protests" was no big deal. They said that in an official statement.

When medical institutions have willingly waded into politics, you should question everything they say.
