Not a single stream has captured shots being fired at police, so I don't believe for a second that cops are under gunfire from the rioters.

Unfortunately the crime scene was probably compromised but, with the hits to the arm it's likely there was blood loss immediately. If MB was stationary there would be drops of blood. If running there would be droops and splatter from the arms swinging. You can often read blood patterns and it will tell you the direction the blood was traveling and velocity in which it hit an object.
