Believe or not most of Rieger Rd. is a state highway, the section in front of Mockler ( that was not resurfaced) belongs to the parish (or St. George ).
They upgraded their website and appear to have taken down the GIS map overlays. They used yo have one up that showed all of Reiger road as theirs.
If 400 yards of Reiger Road is not in their area of responsibility then we can use this as Exhibit A of why this whole charade is a complete load of crap.

St. George Fire and BR Fire are paid by their respective areas but they help each other so much it’s a wash. For example, St. George had trucks on Sherwood yesterday helping BR Fire on a big fire within the city of Baton Rouge.
Kind of proves my point that both departments help each other out.

SG isn’t very old, but in the short time of its existence I’ve noticed more grass cutting, striping of streets, better accidents response and less vagrancy.
On the other hand, I can’t tell you one thing that’s worse now because of the change.
Long live SG and EBR Parish. At the end of the day it’s my wish that our small city becomes a bigger difference maker and we all prosper.

Well some of the battle of BR happened in what is now St George and st Bayou Manchac……you tool.
And BR has become too leftist to properly celebrate 250!
How many more shot in BR this weekend?
I had an ancestor in said battles
Here’s more! This was in what is now present day St. George
Two Historical Battles at ManchacThe name "Battle of Manchac" usually refers to the famous Revolutionary War skirmish, but the area was also the site of a Civil War engagement.1. The Revolutionary War Battle (September 7, 1779)Who: Spanish forces led by Governor Bernardo de Gálvez versus a small British outpost. What happened: Gálvez surprised the British troops at Fort Bute, which was a wooden stockade. The British surrendered quickly. This quick victory gave Spain control over the lower Mississippi River.

Mutual aid has been a thing since long before St. George was dreamed up. BRFD, East Side and SGFD all run calls for each other depending on proximity, availability and call type.

Also over ran British at Bayou manchac. As educated as the OP claims to be apparently he didn’t have great history classes.
The Leader: General Bernardo de Gálvez took command of the regiment in 1776.Key Battles: The regiment marched alongside a diverse army of 1,500 local militia and free black soldiers to attack British forts in Baton Rouge in 1779.

lol my IQ is getting lower with each of your posts.
HALF OF A STREET IS OUTSIDE THE CITY SO ITS ALL A WASTE OF TIME
Wait'll you find out the east side of Oneal lane from the interstate to S. Harrells Ferry is out of the city while the west side is in. You're gonna demand that Baton Rouge gives up it's charter.

What “school board that gives us one of the best schools in the nation” do you speak of? I live in BR and must have missed that one lol.
If you believe BR’s school board is competent in any way shape or form, you must have really low standards. Did you send your kids to public school here? If so, you’re a braver man than I

I, too, laughed when I saw that, but then I noticed he used "school" not "schools."
He'll be back to talk about the greatness of BRMHS and ignore the rest of the district

Yeah, that was funny. BRMHS is very good, no doubt, as are a handful of the magnet schools, but the performance on the whole his hardly an endorsement of the school board and the system in general. $21k per child should get you a lot more.

Serious question.. How does someone from St. George answer the question when they are asked 'Where are you from?'. Do they say Baton Rouge or St. George?

Like it or not Baton Rouge High is ranked by US News in top 2% of all HS in the country.
In any given year they typically have more National Merit Finalist and Semifinalist than any other school in BR Metro area.
So I guess you did miss that one.

No I do not send my kids to public schools and would not if I lived in Central, Zachary, Ascension Parish or Livingston Parish.
I'm not here endorsing the EBRPSS, but I'm not criticizing them either. I feel they have an impossible task of trying to take a diluted population and trying to compete against other school districts that represent a full segment of society.
In my opinion most of the criticism is unwarranted especially given that it comes mostly from those that don't participate. I will say that of the handful of people that I know that have sent their kids to EBRPSS have been more than happy with their experience.

To all the St George haters:
We won and got our city. Stop crying and being bitches.
One day we will have our own school system. That was only the first bite at the apple. There will be more bites and all we have to do is win once.

Its been well documented that police, fire, and EMS cross over the arbitrary boundaries to support each other.
In both directions by various agreements and to cover when in pursuit and backup in certain situations. For awhile Baton Rouge struggled to cover the places it annexed in response to StG attempts to incorporate and required the sheriff to keep patrolling and responding to calls like it was unincorporated.
Has BR gotten 100% of its city services and police coverage implemented in these annnex areas yet? It’s been over 10 years for some and around 7 years for others, so I figured any state deadlines had to have passed already.
quote:Are the routes just to get to some of the businesses it annexed that are basically surrounded by StG?
St George doesn't pay CATS Tax but there are multiple CATS routes that go into St George
quote:BR helps itself to general parish funds. If BR wanted to help it wouldn’t have fought StG’s incorporation.
Its OK little brother BR is here to help you.
