Baton Rouge abused the unincorporated tax dollars. Once the actual schools get built to support a new school system in the coming years, it'll thrive even more.

Broome and City/Parish officials could've stopped St. George if they had just worked with the people in that area.
They essentially told them to frick off. Several times. Maybe trying to call a bluff, but it didn't work.
I have to think if Kip was of sound mind and hypothetically never stopped being Mayor, that it would've never happened.

St George hasn’t attempted it yet as a result.

I’d be willing to bet that any mail or package that gets delivered to your house says Baton Rouge and not St George.
So we're determining legal municipality boundaries now based off an amazon label? Solid.

I wouldn’t expect it to be right on the first attempt at this point.

Oh you mean the place that asked to be incorporated into BR but BR said no because there's too many white people? That place?
The place that was made to pay taxes on services they did not receive? That place? (Cats, police, fire, etc)
The place that wants better schools than BR can offer and less crime? That place?
Go frick yourself. And while you're fricking yourself, learn a bit about the area's history... you fricking useless waste of oxygen

Thanks for coming by, Sharon. You and the Metro Council taking that big, embarrassing L when StG incorporated still stings, eh?

They wanted total control and risk of a much smaller pie rather than give up moderate control and a small slice of pie.
They figured that there was no way it would ever happen then SWB’s mayoral term fricking made it happen.

At this point I would not be surprised if St. George makes a push to become
its' own parish.
Baton Rouge has had several battles, which one are they talking about?

When did this happen? Please post a link.

St George doesn't pay CATS Tax but there are multiple CATS routes that go into St George. Its been well documented that police, fire, and EMS cross over the arbitrary boundaries to support each other.

Kind of hard to offer better schools when only a fraction of the population participates. It's amazing that you believe the same school board that gives us one of the best schools in the nation is also the problem with the remaining schools and citizens choosing not to participate has no bearing on the results.

My ancestor fought in that battle under Galvez. They walked across the basin from Lafayette to engage in battle. Several died due to the treacherous conditions and didn't make it to battle.
Ironically it appears he friended a fellow soldier and bought land next to him around Cecilia where they both raised cattle. Their children married and later down that line I would come some 180 years later.

We even have our own street signs now, lol.
But either wasn't competent enough or ran out of funds to finish the new black top job on Reiger Road!
Baton Rouge would have at least used St George's money to black top the whole street instead leaving 400 yards untouched.

I don’t like St George, but it was Baton Rouge that caused this. St George organized and made a formal request to the goofballs that were in charge of Baton Rouge. They met with themselves and decided that St George needed to continue to pay into Baton Rouge but not get any votes or services. Just letting St George citizens have simple a vote for BR mayor could stopped the entire cascade of events.
They have always had representation. The mayor of BR is the mayor of the entire parish and answer to a "city" council that is made up of representatives of the entire parish.

The latest school district vote however, failed. Louisiana has a law that any new school districts must be voted on by the entire state, so i'm assuming the SG officials will try and do a better job of educating the entire state and not just the residents of SG and BR about the school district. It will happen, eventually, it's just a matter of time.
Still has to pass at the parish level as well which 60+% of the parish denied. Hell the vote barely passed in St George.
Fun fact more people voted in favor of St George schools in New Orleans than the State's fifth largest city, St George!

Believe or not most of Rieger Rd. is a state highway, the section in front of Mockler ( that was not resurfaced) belongs to the parish (or St. George ).

Get rid of CATS in St. George. Nobody wants it.
BRPD isn’t stepping an inch over the city limits. EBRSO is paid by the entire parish and serves the entire parish.
EMS is paid by the entire parish and serves the entire parish.
St. George Fire and BR Fire are paid by their respective areas but they help each other so much it’s a wash. For example, St. George had trucks on Sherwood yesterday helping BR Fire on a big fire within the city of Baton Rouge.

There is a section of it that was annexed by the city of Baton Rouge. I’m pretty sure that section is what he’s referring to.
