If they haven’t wheeled it out yet, get ready for the racism and segregation card.

Incorporating a new city is quite literally the opposite of sitting around and bitching.

It's basically claiming that both entities will be terribly inefficient. Which is simply a scare tactic; nothing more.

what?
Exactly.

StG isn’t part of the city.

How are they splitting up the city?

the real question may be what part of town gets services cut

the CITY of Baton Rouge is going to have a hard time

they're getting disproportionate taxes from unincorporated areas of the parish and that honey pot is about to dry up

I promise you they will start putting millage increases and new millages up for vote in BR. And without the StG area to tell NBR to pound sand, they will pass just like the COA bullshite got through.

i believe that parish taxes in EBR go to the incorporated areas where they are collected (assuming an incorporated area). so raising parish taxes just gives StGeorge more money and it still won't flow to the City of BR

but the patchwork method which grew into place because BR would never incorporate these areas makes it so that it is REALLY easy to incorporate without missing a beat.

Baton Rouge is one of the most dysfunctional cities in the United States. The idea that the area can’t improve with change is absurd.

Based on what?

Anyone can improve with change.

This plan isn't a change. This plan is an overhaul.

What makes you so confident this will be a success? Because of all of your perceived BR failures? Asinine.

I'm rooting for you guys.

As a society, there is a balance between helping your fellow citizens and being robbed blind by a government that doesn't represent your best interests.

BR leadership got greedy and addicted to St. George's money to the point where they've CLEARLY crossed a line and in this country, there's recourse against that.

If it passes, I'm seriously thinking of finally giving in and moving out of state. I don't want the additional taxes but more because I'll lose hope that Louisiana can get it $hit together in terms of leadership.

what kind of melt is this?

StGeorge is the perfect example of people working together to improve their lot in LA, but you're turning it into a negative because you want those who work the system to basically parasite off producers in this state to have the power to expand that tyranny?

They shot that load way too early. Nobody gives a shite what they have to say anymore. They completely embarrassed themselves. Even if they come up with a good reason they’ve already boy who cried wolfed themselves.

SWB always gets others to do that for her, always has. Shes the best at organizing others to stir the shite for her so she stays "above" it.

the people fighting StG are literally fighting to protect a financial gravy train. you think they're willing to give this up?

if not, then there is no "change" possible that result in positives for the StG population

This plan is an overhaul.

no it's not. it's only an overhaul for certain city governments who have become overly reliant on money flowing from out of its city limits

if it does
The whole purpose of this is because the area wants control of its own schools. That's what started us down this path. Same as Central. EBR wouldn't let ISDs exist. So the only way to take control was to create an incorporated city. Central has a 30mm surplus btw without raising taxes at all and no property tax.

that will require a parish AND state vote

People tried to change the city, with the last big push being within the past 5 years.

NBR dug their heels in. Sacks of shite like John Delgado tried to play both sides and ended up getting kicked by each.

Between the methods used to kill St George last time around and NBR’s attempts to subvert the election process in other ways such as trying to replace a dead council member from a conservative area with a black progressive, we’ve reached the point of no return.
