Ok, St George is not in the city limits of BR, so BR get zero tax revenue from them, and in return, no money from BR goes to StG.

StG is in EBRP, so all property taxes will still go the parish (which is also run by Broome), plus any parish wide sales tax.

The StG push is only about schools? They want to keep their school tax money where their kids go and stop funding the schools in BR?

Am I missing something? I'm just asking, I don't live there (anymore).

Are there anymore taxes BR will lose if StG goes through?

Some people want to carve out a place to be happy.

The unhappy people don't want anyone to be happy.

Imagine going to a grocery store. You get your basket full of groceries, then go to check out. The cashier tells you that you also get to pay for other's groceries because the others don't feel like it.

You don't like it, but do it. After you pay for the groceries of three others they tell you that you are through paying for groceries. They then take 2/3 of the groceries out of your cart and give them to somebody else. Now, even though you have paid for a shitload of groceries, you don't have enough.

The cashier says thanks and that she will see you next week. You walk out thinking that you are NEVER coming back.

Did I mention that each person that had their groceries paid for by you hates you and slapped the shite out of you on their way by? They were neither thankful or appreciative. They just wanted to "Hold a few dollars" on the way out. Their hunger for other people's money is unable to be quenched.

On the way home you see a new grocery store. You go check it out and find out that this new store costs a little less and you only have to pay for your own groceries. They also have the Swedish bikini team passing out handies and bj's. There is a topless grill girl at the end of every isle handing out steak bites and beer.

When you leave they tell you they were all glad to see you and are appreciative of you stopping by.

You now have to choose which store you want to shop at. Whatcha gonna do, Brother?

Why not just use Amazon Fresh and not worry about going to the grocery store at all

Not a viable option in the mythical world of spending other people's money. You still have to pay for yours, and others groceries anyway at store 1. Or you can choose store 2.

The BR establishment says well we do not want to incorporate you remember just give us your taxes to pay for our services inside the city of BR.

Hey you guys are large enough population wise to overnight become one of the top five largest cities in Louisiana by population. Hey we choose to ignore this as we went to steal your money to pay for our bloated government to keep our taxes low.

Remember if you guys leave you will hurt our tax base and your taxes will go up while ours will not.
Oh, we might need to look at a future tax to put on the ballot to pay for BRPD raises while paying $300,000 for a diversity in Govt contracts study.
Don’t talk about this let’s keep it quiet.

At the same time this area cannot survive on its own while they annex shopping centers by using railroad tracks passing up neighborhoods and a casino using Miss river levee passing up a ghetto with low income people called Gardere. Hey St George is racist not us who passed up an area that needs city services. [b]They also sent lawyers which we all paid for to these companies headquarters to talk them into annexing into BR.[/b

Trust us as ST George is bad and we are good.

Johnny, you get it, but make sure that's $300,000 for the diversity study.
It ain't no $300.

The people of south east EBR wanted a public high school in their geographical area.

The city of BR said no.

The people of south east EVR wanted to create their own independent school districit similar to those in Texas.

The city of BR said no. You have to be a city if you want to do that.

The people of south east BR said ok we will make a city. THey went out and got signatures and campaigned, but the city of BR never told them how many were needed and called people on the petition lists and asked if they wanted their signatures removed.

The petition falls a few hundred signatures short despite never making the total needed public. The city of BR gerrymanders property lines to incorporate businesses while avoiding “less than desirable” areas.

A lot of people see this and get pissed off at the crookedness with which the city of BR has acted and now vow to support putting the vote for St. George on the ballot despite not doing so last time
