I'm assuming rage against the machine will get pulled next?

Spotify has removed “Puff the Magic Dragon”
On grounds that dragons aren’t real, and also Hanalee can not be found on any maps next to large bodies of water.

Could you imagine thinking WAP and Ride on my Enemies is okay but something like this isn't?

loved it when the super hardcore edgy punk bands did zoom jam sessions last year and ended the session with "WEAR YOUR MASK" disclaimers on-screen.
nothing makes me feel better about supporting these non-sell-out artists growing up than seeing them gleefully lick boots now.
punk rock was a lie.

Hope you weren't around in the late 60s/early 70s.

I never said it was, I actually disagree with it but this is a private company not wanting this song on their platform. It isn't the government censoring people
There are no alternatives, the ones that try to pop up get "shut down", I.E. Parler.
This is what you get when only a handful of companies have the capabilities of even providing such a service, through exclusivity deals with artists or sheer scale of the service, and they abuse their platform/publisher status to decide what media the public is allowed to consume.
And people like you don't see the problem with, not only the deed itself, but the hypocrisy of allowing other songs with way worse messages.

Are you really using spotify to listen to anti-lockdown or pro-lockdown playlists?
This is a pretty stupid comment. Anti-government or anti-establishment protest songs have been a staple of music for generations. But it's fine if Spotify goes out of its way to censor an old Brit who's tired of lockdowns?
The Stone Roses are one of my favorite bands, so I occasionally listen to Ian Brown, and expect his music to be unedited if I'm listening to it.

When it comes to music, there’s been a healthy bit of an attempt to censor from both sides. We’re not that far removed from the Washington Wives and musicians testifying before the Senate over their lyrics.
That was Al Gore’s wife.

Take the children and yourself
And hide out in the cellar
By now the fighting will be close at hand
Don't believe the church and state
And everything they tell you
Believe in me, I'm with the high command
Can you hear me, can you hear me running?
Can you hear me running, can you hear me calling you?
Can you hear me, can you hear me running?
Can you hear me running, can you hear me calling you?
There's a gun and ammunition
Just inside the doorway
Use it only in emergency
Better you should pray to God
The Father and the Spirit
Will guide you and protect from up here
Can you hear me, can you hear me running?
Can you hear me running, can you hear me calling you?
Can you hear me, can you hear me running?
Can you hear me running, can you hear me calling you?
Swear allegiance to the flag
Whatever flag they offer
Never hint at what you really feel
Teach the children quietly
For some day sons and daughters
Will rise up and fight while we stand still
Can you hear me, can you hear me running?
Can you hear me running, can you hear me calling you?
Can you hear me, can you hear me running?
Can you hear me running, can you hear me calling you?

Watchin' me while I write this, like I don't like this, NOPE!
All I hear is: lyrics, lyrics, constant controversy, sponsors working
Round the clock to try to stop my concerts early, surely
Hip hop was never a problem in Harlem only in Boston
After it bothered the fathers of daughters starting to blossom
So now I'm catchin' the flack from these activists when they raggin'
Actin' like I'm the first rapper to smack a bitch or say ****, shite
Just look at me like I'm your closest pal
The posterchild, the motherfrickin' spokesman now, for
White America, I could be one of your kids
White America, little Eric looks just like this
White America, Erica loves my shite
I go to TRL, look how many hugs I get
White America, I could be one of your kids
White America, little Eric looks just like this
White America, Erica loves my shite
I go to TRL, look how many hugs I get
So to the parents of America
I am the Derringer aimed at little Erica to attack her character
The ringleader of this circus of worthless pawns
Sent to lead the march right up to the steps of Congress
And piss on the lawns of the White House
To burn the {flag} and replace it with a Parental Advisory sticker
To spit liquor in the faces of this democracy of hypocrisy
frick you Ms. Cheney, frick you Tipper Gore
frick you with the free-est of speech
This Divided States of Embarrassment will allow me to have
frick you!

It's purely entertainment. I also haven't canceled all the tv shows I watch that dont cover covid
Well, cool. We've established that you don't care about Orwellian censorship of speech by outlets that control the market. That's fine. But plenty of people do care and are rightfully disturbed by it.
