Heat the spigot up to get it flowing. I used a propane torch

I just took the temp on the outside of my kitchen cabinet door…64.1 degrees. I then took the temp on the inside of my cabinet where the pipes go into the wall…52.4. I could feel the temperature difference instantly. I would say opening the doors help.

Hair dryer to get it flowing. If you get even the tiniest little trickle out, wait a minute and it'll start flowimg.

Interesting. I just measured inside and outside my kitchen sink cabinet, and it was 1 degree warmer inside the cabinet. Anecdotes fail again.

Master bath sink cabinet was 0.5 degree cooler than outside the cabinet.

I fricking love the downvotes from people that simply cannot let go that opening a cabinet door won't do jack shite.

I agree - but there is no way I can convince myself that opening the attic door is gonna make a difference

Thanks guys. Space heater and hair dryer got it flowing. I guess the drip I had going was too small. Pipes were covered.

Opening the attic door just lets the heat go through the ridge vent. It's not going to heat the attic unless your attic has poor ventilation

It’s 21 here in Lafayette and somehow the water fountain outside of my place doesn’t have a speck of ice in it.

So I should trust some rando on the internet, and not the thermometer in my hand.

Get a pitcher of hot water and pour over it slowly . Nice gentle way to warm it up. You wont melt your internal plastic parts or get electrocuted.

It needs to be a continuous stream when it's this cold and windy. Doesn't have to be much of one, but it does need to be continuous. There's going to be some ice in the pipe and valve and you can't prevent that without being ridiculous, but an intermittent drop will often stop itself up with this kind of weather.

Easiest way to move water..

Load dishwasher before you go to bed put on a 2 hour delay.

Load washer before you go to bed put on a 5 hour delay.

You'll have your hot water moving all night and not have to work about dripping faucets.

Nah, it’ll get into the mid 30s tomorrow afternoon and shouldn’t get too far below freezing after that so I’ll turn it back in and just leave things running at night.

If you use PEX line it will only expand the line, not break it. Worst case insurance.

Not the case, I had PEX explode when the temperature got to 18 here in South Louisiana several years ago. My house is on piers and the wind from the north froze it and it burst mid way in the piping. I know it isn't common, but don't think you are safe just because you have PEX.

Swing and a miss there chief. The whole point of the post was that anecdotes are irrelevant. Classic you trying to take a shot at me and wiffing.

Don't worry, you've got plenty company in this thread.

Here you go chief.

You’re definitely in the minority about this one, but keep doubling down.
