Msgr. Robie Robichaux, whose personal familiarity with Canon Law has led to his appointment as Judicial Vicar for the Diocese of Lafayette.

The sometimes theatrical aura of ceremony clinches it.
We had a priest for a while that was flaming gay. Think Nathan Lane in the "Bird Cage" gay.
Each time he said mass it was a big production. Big songs, big chorus. It was like attending an off broadway show musical. I looked forward to hearing which new hymn he had incorporated into the mass for that week. I have no idea if he diddled boys but he put on a serious theatrical performance.
He got transfered out to a small parish in rural Appalachia. One room wooden church type place. We were camping near the church so we stopped in one Sunday to check out the show. He had evolved from a big production to a one man show. Just him with a primitive church, bare wooden walls and a piano in the corner. He did the dramatic one light thing over the altar then would walk over to the piano and do solo songs.
Guy was a showman. The church was packed with locals and they seemed to appreciate the performance.

It's an opportunity for a predator thing.
There are celebate/mostly celebrate priests
There are tons of priests on the down low with rectory assistants, close female friends. They took the ben Franklin approach.
There are gay priests who get it on with consenting gay adults.
Then there are the pedos. They go after the boys because it's just easier targets. Being altar and choir boys are always around. You get into actually looking at investigations of how pedos work and it's someone the kid trusts, someone the parents trust. Good Catholic girls weren't often left by their lonesome in a this case, so they are just a smaller pool.
The flip side of this is Nassar who had a pool of targets mostly female.
It's less a straight/gay thing with pedophiles, more straight opportunity.

Are most victims also gay? Does anyone know? Seems to me these pervs would't risk it unless they felt the victim was also gay. Good to know as it would mean there's less concern if your kid is straight. Also, if your kid is gay, sending them to a all boy school seems like a bad idea for several reasons.

There is a homosexual pedophile problem in the priesthood, and people think allowing women to be clergy and allowing priests to marry will fix this somehow. As if priests enter the seminary unaware that they will never have sex and when they do realize it they become pedophiles? Gay ones too?

The church should let them wed.

The shame factor, boys won't tell because they're embarrassed, don't want anyone to know

Please explain to me how a gay pedophile being married keeps him from molesting boys. Pedophilia is like a mental illness man they don’t think they are doing anything wrong. They aren’t swayed by women.

You are misunderstanding the statement, by allowing priests to be married it would expand the pool of men that would choose to become a priest beyond those who are gay, and/or pedophiles. As you have correctly stated it would have no effect on someone that is already a priest and a pedophile.

That makes sense to me. I could see an argument for that, but being a traditional Catholic, I personally don’t think that a priest can fulfill his priestly duties and his spousal duties simultaneously if he was married. The Church’s view on marriage and its importance can’t really allow a priest to both guide their parish full time and maintain a marriage. It’s a zero sum game, if a priest is devoting a percentage of their time to their wife, then they are technically taking time away from being there for their parish.

Because most priests are homosexuals.

Well over 80%.
On the whole, a vast majority of priests aren't 'diddling kids.' The sexual predators, even, are not pedophiles. The vast majority, approaching 90%...I don't have the articles close at hand to give an exact number...are gay, going after teen-aged boys and OLDER.
Cardinal McCarrick was going after his own Seminarians and younger priests after they left Seminary.

Thus allowing them to cull some of these guys out before they ever become priests. I think this problem goes hand in hand with the priest shortage. Easier to look the other way when you have empty billets you're trying to fill.

This is well-stated and accurate.
Ordination is a marriage, and many priests, rightly , view the Church herself, as their bride.
Both Matrimony and Ordination are 100% commitment to the 'spouse' It's hard for a man to divide himself into 200% if that makes sense.

The early church didn't have a problem with it. Celebacy came about in medieval times as a means of preventing the priesthood, and especially bishops and abbots, from becoming a hereditary position.
