Fentanyl is cheaper to manufacture than cocaine. Dealers will add a little fentanyl to their supply of cocaine to increase their profit margins. However, the risk is that the dealer will kill his customer if they spike the cocaine with too much fentanyl. Drug cartel math.
How does that increase their profit margins? A pinch of fentanyl does nothing to increase the volume of a cocaine stash. You need to sell more product to increase your profits, not less.

I just dont understand why dealers would intentionally mix it with cocaine.
I tried to point you in the right directions with Stringer's query to his macroecon professor.
When you get down to the distributors to street-level dealers that are actually standing on corners (not driving BMWs to houses in the Hollywood Hills) the cocaine has been stepped on numerous times and might be so low potency they will need to add something, anything, to get their buyers high. Fentanyl is a plentiful extremely cheap drug that can make their dog shite cocaine actually worth selling.
The people who buy from these dealers aren't connoisseurs of fine Bolivian fish scale so they aren't used to a near-pure cocaine high, they are less discriminating.
The people who buy from these types of dealers are also more likely to be polydrug users. They are probably well acquainted with the high from a mix of cocaine and heroin which is known as a speedball. The high is supposed to be an extreme rush that mixes the high from both drugs and also reduces the negatives of each. Imagine a heroin high where you don't nod but stay awake and feel that euphoria for the entire duration of the high.
So now you know why dealers do it and why users actually like the high.
Any more questions about a subject and world that at least 50% of the population should know far more about than I do?

Now the potency angle I can see if like you say it’s been stepped on so many times. But people who believe dealers are substituting baby laxative for fentanyl are way off.

The term laced isn’t exactly accurate. It’s more that cocaine is often “cut” mixed with other substances to improve profit margins. For whatever reason fentanyl has become a substance of choice in this process.
The number of people OD’ing on fentanyl while doing coke has skyrocketed in recent years. Coke is much more dangerous than it used to be.

That’s why the zombies are smoking meth and fentanyl. To stay awake for the high.

Why would a drug dealer be selling a “baggie” of fentanyl?
Maybe he’s bringing the baggie so it can be made into pill form?
Cops have arrested individuals in CA and NY with thousands of fentanyl pills on them

do you think drug dealing is like a trade job?
It's very similar, actually, including apprenticing.

In the past or the beginning fentynal was used to cut harder with cocaine and it was killing a lot of people. My understanding is that is mostly gone, but obviously not all drug dealers are genius’s.
My understanding now is that fentynal is so potent that most deaths now are accidentally cutting it. Either by multiple dealers down the line all cutting it, or more likely by fentynal being handled by the same equipment, hands, etc as the cocaine so it’s accidentally cut.
So dealer A barely cuts it. Sells to dealer B. Dealer B has some fentynal to cut his cocaine with on his mixing table, and accidentally splits the cocaine from Dealer A on the the same table as his fentynal, and now a deadly amount is mixed in.
I’ve also read that fentynal can stay on things like dollar bills and when someone uses the dollar bill over and over it can lead to a deadly amount. Idk.

Fentanyl can be in practically any illicit drug. I've see marijuana laced with fentanyl

Explain this to me like I’m 5, why is fentanyl being put in cocaine?

One is wildly more addictive than the other...
Adding fent to coke will get people addicted to fent, and keep coming back. Fent users will find a way to get money to get their fix whenever needed.
And result, more money for the drug dealer. until they OD that is

It's all part of the great reset.

Have you not seen the videos of cops overdosing by simply searching a car that has fentanyl in it?
That's just a stress reaction or what previous generations would have called hysteria. Fentanyl does not work like that. You think the dealers and suppliers have high quality gear to protect themselves if it were that potent ?

why is fentanyl being put in cocaine?
To kill white men.

I just so happen to know someone who deals cocaine and his shite has gotten cross contaminated. Not saying that’s the case in every instance but it happens often.
Yea dude, we're all hanging on the words of a some random druggie, that dude clearly has all the answers.

It's a government psyop being run to create doubt and diminish demand for cartels products.
