I'm not sure how this can be regulated. Pot store will have a whole bunch of associated costs. That will drive the price up.
You realize we have hard data on the tax revenue generated from marijuana sales right? We don't have to speculate on whether or not it would generate revenue.

Me. I'm a small government conservative, but if the people in Washington tell me this plant is evil, then I will listen to them without thinking twice! Now take the wheel while I grab another beer!

Now that ObamaCare forces me to pay for your healthcare, I am opposed to the legalization of marijuana. Now, if you reduce my taxes, premiums, and deductibles, then you can put whatever poison you want into your body.
This is a pretty common catch all criticism of Obamacare. Here's a rephrasing of the exact same statement:
"Now because of Obamacare the encroachment of government has become so great that I will use it as a justification to abolish all forms of self determination and free will because I know what is good for people better than they know for themselves anyway."
The idea is supposed to be a criticism of giving the government too much power, but it comes across as a pouty, fallacious, and immature argument that is basically saying, "if I can't be happy then no one should be happy. Two wrongs will make a right"

I am referring to both medical and recreation use. In the past ten years attitudes towards marijuana have shifted so dramatically I am always shocked when I speak to people that oppose legalization. I have yet to hear and reasonable reasons for opposing legalization
The only good reason is we cannot be pro-destroying their body and have free healthcare.
Otherwise, I am all for letting people put whatever they want in their body. And even if illegal people are still doing it and getting Obamacare. So may as well legalize.

Then you must support a total rewriting of our laws. You're argument is that free healthcare can only be supported by controlling every aspect of one's life.
It's very totalitarian.

Only if laws are in place that govern its use when operating a vehicle, in the workplace, etc....much like we do with alcohol

been paying for other folks healthcare way before this attempt at socializing medicine

I'd love for marijuana to be legal here (and I don't smoke) but my biggest concern is being able to identify drivers who are under the influence.
If there was a way to literally test to see if you were high then I'd say 100% do it (I still want it done for economic reasons).

No you stoner, it means making a dumb arse mistake and causing an explosion, release, or someone to get hurt.

and what does alcohol do?
Posted on 4/14/16 at 11:46 am to REG861
And you get random tested for that and fired if found on your breath. If you need alcohol or drugs to be happy you are in sad shape.

Holy shite some of you are dumb. Pretty much everything most Americans do destroys their body.

When I smoked pot as a teenager I became a lazy dude and quit playing football which I had loved previous to smoking weed. Still regret this
Also had a good friend who got stoned out of her mind and walked in front of an 18 wheeler in Port Allen.
Legalizing it sends the message to young folks that it is harmless which in my experience is untrue. For this reason I am opposed to legalization.
If you don't find this a reasonable reason I will just assume you are stoned beyond reason.

Yea if yall are concerned about people destroying their bodies and taking advantage of free health care, I would point you in the direction of the classic American diet.

What about drivers on pharmaceuticals? What about drivers that are just tired? They are just as dangerous as the next person.
Also, people who smoke are already out on the roads. Some of yall are acting like everyone in the country will just start lighting up because it is legal. People that don't use, probably aren't just going to start out of the blue.

And my point is that... well, what reg said. Are pot smokers supposed to be more prone to accidents or of lesser intelligence than the drunks out there, or are you just basing this off some unfounded perception you have? Is it any more business of the company's what they do in their personal time?
Eta: anyway this is a company policy thing and not even a legal thing. Companies can run their business the way they see fit.

I am looking for reasonable responses.
From someone who knows a couple people who are addicts, where Marijuana was their first drug to do, it is a gateway.
Now, Idk how I feel about the rest of it. I figure as long as you don't drive under the influence or deal illegally, whatever.

You don't pay for mine though.
Maybe not, but everyone is paying ObamaCare taxes, and should have a say in legalizing drugs that have negative health effects. I'm certainly not going to side with pot smokers on legalization when we both know that I am paying for the healthcare for many of them.
