Because he's madly in love with his wife Peg?

He was still Mountbatten.

The kids were Windsors. (Which wasn't the real family name anyway.)

Coincidentally, that was his wife's nickname in college.

Not really, he was forced to change his name to Mountbatten-Windsor.

I know a guy with the last name Cox. A girlfriend refused to marry him unless he took her last name. Her first name was Anita...

I have seen that happen in an instance or two where the bride was an only child and the groom had a couple of brothers. The groom took her name so there would be another generation of kids with her surname.

I want to say that this happened when the actress that played Bernadette on Big Bang Theory got married.

The man could have had a bad family history (maybe parents were abusive/neglectful) and he doesn't want to be associated with their name any longer.

Another possibility is that he may have a brother who has a son (and thus the family name carries on) while her name would die out.

I know a guy who did it. The bride’s family was all girls and they didn’t want the family name to die. His family wasn’t close so he didn’t mind changing his name.

He’s weird as shite so it wasn’t a shock when he announced it.

I know a guy that did that and that was supposedly estranged from his parents. Ha**y Bush, not kidding! I'm sure his wife loves being introduced.

Bc your friend secretly likes to get pegged. One thing for a prominent doctor or lawyer not to change her name but for a man to take the wife’s last name

A friend of mine just took his wife”s last name after getting married a few weeks ago. I asked him about it, and he said he just didn’t care. They are an Older couple (50ish) and she is established in her industry, so I can see keeping her name on social media for networking. It may be an outdated tradition, but I don’t see what the benefit is for getting rid of it.

In that case, I can understand the wife keeping her name, but I'm not giving up my last name.

frick that.
