I go about 4 over everywhere. Slightly faster on the interstate or rural highways.

+/- 10%

25 mph zone = max speed 27-28 mph

55 mph zone = max speed 60-61 mph

70 mph zone = max speed 77 mph

Not gonna read the whole thread. I grew up next door to a cop (in GA) who told my parents 9mph is the cutoff. It hasn't failed me yet.

In Addis, you better drive 5 UNDER the speed limit

I used to know the few deputies they have in addis because they addis PD used to use my uncle's gas station.. One time one of them stopped me for going to fast.. About half way to my van he realized it was me and just yelled "slow the frick down"...

You got to watch out for Brusly police as well.

8 you're great, 9 you're mine for interstate. All other roads use best judgment and experience.

Always have gone by this. But I had a truck that didn't have cruise and got careless driving between Vicksburg and Monroe. I glanced down and saw I was going 11 over, and looked in rear view mirror to find a dag gum cop. dangit. Never stopped me at 8 (or 9).

The reason for it is that state law dictates that funds from tickets for going about 1-5 MPH over the limit end up in the state’s general fund. Funds from going over that end up going to the jurisdiction in question.

The intent is to discourage speed trap towns nailing people for going 1MPH over the limit, as doing so wouldn’t net them any money.
If thats true, its probably the first time I can say “good job LA state government”

Had to stop on I-10 in South Texas once and trooper going by stopped to check on us. I asked him what the target was (speed limit was 80) and he said "we'll stop you at 85. Already giving you 80" .

Set the cruise at 8 over on the interstate and you’ll never get a ticket.

I got a ticket for going 82 in a 75 on I-49.

In Florida on the highway, especially from Ocala till Georgia you can do 15 over and be fine.

Once you hit Georgia line...you better be 5 over or they pull you over. fricking hate Georgia State Troopers. They are fricking slime balls.

I drive my work truck around South Louisiana five days week ... My routine is 3 mph over in all towns( except Krotz Springs and Abita obviously)... and 7 mph over on all interstates and highways (except over bridges and construction zones)...
