SW canceled our leg back to Ohio for tomorrow already. Reroute had us MSY-ATL-(77 hour layover)-MCO-CMH. Found a Delta out of BTR the next day for only 25000 ff miles/person.

Glad the rental car was only $50 more to drop off at BTR, but SW really lost some goodwill on this.

Sometimes it's better to be a spectator in the front row than to be on the field of a game with no winners.

Your experience doesnt mean thats the experience on every SW flight.

it definitely makes a difference to the people who paid for priority boarding to be up front and end up many rows back because of Jet Bridge miracles.

Why?

The plane isn't leaving any earlier. The plane isn't landing any later. If you checked a bag your luggage won't arrive any earlier or later. If you didnt check a bag you will still have ample room to access the overhead bins so long as you checked in basically any time the day before.

Pre-boards have little to impact to almost every other traveler.

I stole that line from an ex-Eastern manager. He also had a 50 yard line seat.

Maybe not on every flight, but my flight to MCO two weeks ago had 13 families of children with 2 adults each. It was something like 30 passengers, and that is before all the other preboards. By time my boarding position of B15ish was up like half the plane was full minus middle seats.

I've definitely seen alot but it's not double digit on every flight like PP stated. Unless you have a large group, anything in B should still give you a full row of seats for three people and overhead bin access and anything over three I think upgrading is always your best bet.

Sitting in row 12 or 29 isn't really much difference.

I even paid for early bird check-in on the flight and got in the B's.

I mean that definitely blows, but you are the 3rd or 4th to say that families with kids get on board before anyone else when that’s just not the case. There’s already 60-70 people on board before families with small children are called to board.

Every single solitary SW flight out of every single airport? Sure. You win. But I have flown primarily Southwest roughly 4 legs per week to get to/from work for the last year, and I board immediately after pre-boards and before the A Group, so I get a front row seat to the action every time I go to work or home. It’s a thing.

Why?

Because they paid for it. Their reasons for paying is none of anyone’s business. They paid extra to receive priority boarding. Kinda lame for that to be impeded by many able bodied people attempting to game the system.

Southwest stock is down 6% today. Social media has gone silent (except for sporadic token responses where they request DMs). Customer service is practically non-existent.

This corporate meltdown is fascinating to watch.

Preach. Also not caring about keeping employees. Eventually the 'just hire someone else' approach bites you in the arse.

Isn’t row 12 an emergency exit row? If so, that’s a huge difference for someone like me that is 6’5”.

It’s also a good 5 minute difference exiting the plane if you have a tight connection.

I wouldn't doubt a ton of their customer service agents (phone and online) either said frick this and quit, or called in sick. I wouldn't want to go work for 8-10 hours and listen to people yell at me over shite I cannot control. I can't imagine it's hard to find another call center job.

I don't think I could be married to an attractive flight attendant. I can online image what happens when they're up in hotels most of every week.

I really wish SWA would just assign seats. Even if prices went up.

I like picking my seat.

So now they are saying they will be at 1/3 capacity for “the next several days”. Hearing that the breakdown in their company IT/comms system was so complete that they don’t know where some of their aircrews actually are.
