So now they are saying they will be at 1/3 capacity for “the next several days”. Hearing that the breakdown in their company IT/comms system was so complete that they don’t know where some of their aircrews actually are.

The good thing that will likely come from this is that this will likely force them to significantly upgrade their technology.

You can't just borrow a plane and fly her home yourself?

It sounds like Southwest doesn't know where half their shite is at the moment. You could probably have her home and get back home before they realized a plane was missing.

I'm meeting with my wife's boss to show him a corporate jet tomorrow, the guy that is currently managing it will be there, I'm going to ask him if he has anything headed towards where she lives

How long has it been since you’ve flown a 73?

that one skipped me by, by the time we started to buy them I was a pretty senior 76 CA, too much of a pay cut, unless I wanted to be a check airman on it

ETA: I was just offered a job to fly one on a 1099 basis recently

I fly SW out of NOLA on 1/12 and back again on 1/16.

Hopefully I’m not screwed by this.

I flew from KC to Hobby on Christmas Day with a connection in Austin. Was supposed to have a 1 hour layover that turned into 4…then they sent our entire plane’s luggage to the wrong airport. I think it was because of a last second gate change?

We found out about it after 1.5 hours of navigating the madness that is Hobby. Then stood in line for hours to report said luggage situation. We arrived at Hobby at 4:52pm and left at midnight to head to the house here.

I’ll be shocked if I hear from SW before the 5 day time to file a claim kicks in. Makes me wonder how many claims they will pay AND end up returning the bags too.

Thankfully I split my time between KC and Houston so I have clothes and stuff here. I had checked bags full of Christmas gifts. But people around me were really in some dire situations.

Remember everyone, don’t ever pack your meds in a checked bag. I’m just glad I wasn’t stuck in Austin. The gf (no pics- remember she is a Latina and would cut me if I posted her here) could have come and picked me up. There were no rentals cars.

In the end I count myself fortunate. I at least made it where my body was supposed to end up- bags not so much. But the reversal of that is what most are experiencing.

Back to KC on 1/2….maybe.

I almost hate that you gave it away. It’s been fun to watch people argue with him who likely had no idea lol.

My daughter has been stuck in Austin since Dec. 23. SWA got her from Long Beach to Austin but that’s it. Telling her now no flights to New Orleans until Jan. 1.

Thankfully she has friends in Austin but she needs to get back to her job and cat ASAP. At least she’s still able to laugh (a little) about it.

We use SWA regularly and have been happy with them. But it will be lucky to survive this debacle.

Also, alternate airlines are charging $1500+ to fly SWA passengers to LAX, Long Beach and Burbank.

777 how long do you expect this to go on? GF and friends have a flight to Nashville out of MSY late next week. Wondering if they should start planning a drive.
