Get rid of Louisiana’s civil law legal system. It’s time to retire it.

Our state corruption stink is working as an excellent repellent.

In all seriousness though, Texas is a very close and much better alternative. I’d like to see the breakdown of LA migration. Texas probably makes up 85% of that

I used to think this was organic and due to blue states turning into piles of shite, but it feels more like a concerted effort to make red states as shitty as blue states.

Communist misery reuqires company.

Don't they realize Climate Change will result in Southern States being submerged first.
How quickly they forget the knowledge/warning of our greatest scientific minds.

Only four years ago, many Ranters agreed.
Feb 17, 2022 — The scientific consensus that climate change is happening and that it is human-caused is strong.

I guess that our economy working like a pyramid scheme means population growth is seen as a good thing.

I have a home in Pensacola, Florida that I may retire too one day.

The population boom around Pensacola seems to mean traffic jams and hardly a spot of forest or cotton field that isn't new tract houses, Dollar Generals and strip malls. However, none of friends with businesses in Pensacola are all that upbeat on opportunities booming as the amount of struggling paycheck to paycheck people double.

I currently work and live in Brooklyn NY. Just from a common sense perspective, the best way Brooklyn could improve would be enough population loss to lower rent a bit and perhaps keep private equity firms from stumbling over themselves to buy up every available building in the city.

We absolutely love living in South Carolina.

Unfortunately it won't be long until you're living in South Jersey at the rate they're moving there.

That is definitely not ideal. They do not fit with Southern culture.

I sure hope this is the case because the first time i see a protest against immigration etcc...down here and they start asking where you from and 80% are from those shite hole liberal states then there is an issue.

It would be interesting to understand the deciding factors in the migration trends.
Is the ongoing retirees moving to warmer weather?
Is it economic political factors with blue states with higher taxes and decriminalization?

That's exactly what you see here. All the ICE protests here have been the progressive California and Washington transplants that live in the North End.

Almost 100% older white women.

A better state right now than SC in my opinion, which is noticeably poorer and not handling the growth well. (Of course, I miss the SC of my youth).

This is what we want lib New Yorkers to know. It’s really bad down here. Probably best to stay there.

many reasons, but a big one is that the state has an income tax

How fricking sad is Louisiana? My home state. The only state in the south that appears to be losing population.

If they could have just put together a half arse decent product over the last 20 years, they would be experiencing their own growth. Instead, they chose to keep their parochial institutions and insular mindset.

The bad news is they are mostly blue voters from other states.

I don’t think this is universally true. I moved to the Florida panhandle during Covid, and so did the majority of the people that I’ve gotten to know since that time.

We came from all over. Texas, California, Illinois, Georgia, Virginia, etc.. We’ve got people from Philly. The couple next-door to me retired from NYC.

I would tell you the vast majority of these people are not liberal in any sense. They may not be as right wing as your traditional southern voters, but they’re not blue voters either.

My buddy who grew up in Orange County, CA - in addition to being the best golfer I’ve ever been friends with- may actually be the most right wing guy that I know. My boy Freddie from Philly seems to have very much adopted southern culture. His daughter is now going to Alabama, and he likes to hunt.

I think a lot of these people are escaping situations and leaving the blue voters behind.

From a voter proportion standpoint, this is going to massively benefit the south on the national landscape. Governor, Senate, and presidential elections will still go red, and these states will have significantly more weight, and soon be more important than their northern counter reports.

California lost 230,000 in one year. They will be losing a congressional seat every 4 years at that rate and some red state will be gaining it. Also, the top 10 states with the highest fertility rates are all red states. The bottom 10 are all blue states. Combine migration and birth rates for blue states and the picture isn’t good for them.
